Can you help?
Every year the Barret PTA helps fund many end-of-year activities. If you would like to help support us in supporting our students, we would greatly appreciate your generosity.
There is no obligation, no prizes, just a way to give back to your school. No amount is too small!

Congratulations, Mrs. Tullbane!
Congratulations to Mrs. Tullbane, our Library Media Specialist, on her nomination for the 2024 JCPS STLP Coordinator of the Year! This nomination is a testament to her exceptional dedication, creativity, and leadership in the Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP). The JCPS winner will be announced at the end of the month. Good luck to Mrs. Tullbane!
Attention: 8th Grade Families
On Monday, 8th grade students will bring home a letter with information about the 8th grade dance, graduation, and field trips at the end of the year. Please read the information in this packet carefully and return the signed permissions and 8th grade activity fee no later than Monday, April 29. We look forward to celebrating our students!

ICYMI-Dress Code Reminders
As we return from Spring Break, we want to ensure all students are in dress code and ready to learn. Please reference our dress code policies linked below to ensure your student is in compliance.
Uniform Donations Needed
Has your student hit a growth spurt and outgrown their uniform pants/shirts? Please consider donating items to Barret. We happily accept used items for our clothing closet. Students can drop donations off to Ms. Issis in Youth Service Center, room 214.
Happy National Poetry Month!
Tell your student to stop by the library this month and check out one of our poetry offerings. Mrs. Tullbane is happy to help students explore these titles any day before school!
As we near the end of the year and we approach state testing it is important to prepare our students mentally to be able to do their best. As the adults in our students' lives, our attitude towards testing greatly influences how our students approach the tests as well. Our students need encouraging, positive thoughts and conversations. Here are some things to consider when talking with your students:
Get a Good Night’s Sleep! Showing up to your test well-rested is one of the best things you can do to succeed on test day. Why should you make sleep a priority? A good night’s sleep will help you think more clearly during the test. It will also make it easier to cope with test-taking stress and anxiety.
Eat a Healthy Breakfast. Like sleeping, eating is an important part of self-care and test taking preparation. After all, it’s hard to think clearly if your stomach is grumbling. As tough as it can be to eat when you’re nervous or rushing out the door, plan time in your morning on test day to eat a healthy breakfast. And don’t forget to drink plenty of water. If possible, bring a bottle of water with you on test day.
Being on time the day of the test can help decrease stress. And it allows you to get into a positive state of mind before the test starts. Settle in to your seat as soon as possible. Organize your materials so they are readily available when you need them. Make sure you are physically comfortable (as much as possible). By settling in early, you are giving yourself time to get organized, relaxed, and mentally ready for the test to begin.
Encourage students to do their best. Everyone’s best looks different, but students will feel proud of themselves if they know they’ve given it their best effort.
