STEM News

Welcome back everyone! I hope you are all staying safe and healthy. Thank you all for tuning in last week for the official launch of the first Freeland CSO STEM Newsletter, and if you missed it, go check out the Freeland Schools Facebook Page! This week I wanted to share with everyone my connection to STEM and CSOs. For a majority of my life, I have had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do for my future and career. That is until my freshman year of high school when I started taking some programming classes. It wasn’t my favorite thing but I definitely had interest in it and coming from a father who is a mechanical engineer, I have always been involved with STEM. So, going into my sophomore year of high school I looked into some programs that were provided through the school involving STEM and I found the Chief Science Officer’s program. I am extremely grateful to have found out about the program and to have the honor of being elected not only for one year, but for the second year in a row. My interest for computer science still continues and I’m hoping to major in it once I graduate high school. But until then, I will continue to spread STEM awareness throughout my community and school the best I can because I believe it’s something that will affect everyone’s future and will possibly bring job opportunities for others.
