Principal's Message
Can you believe that we have been in school for 45 days? Wow! Our school routines are becoming more established and Hueneme students are building stamina for learning! It is such an awesome sight to see each student growing and learning each day! It is even more exciting to see teachers meeting the needs of each student socially, emotionally, and academically!
Federal Forms: Thank you to all of our families that have completed and turned in the annual federal forms. If you have not had a chance to complete it yet, or have further questions; please stop by or call the office.
COVID Testing Sites: The hours at the Covid testing sites have changed; however the locations are the same. The news times are 12:00-4:00 daily at both Blackstock and Haycox.
Meet Ms. Burnette: On Friday, November 12 stop by the front of the school near the flag pole to meet Ms. Burnette and visit with Ms. Benitez & Mrs. Shallenberger. You can ask us questions and we will have a flyer for an upcoming parent meeting. We look forward to seeing you!
World Kindness Day: Hueneme Elementary will be participating in World Kindness day on Friday, November 12, 21. We look forward to sharing our kind acts with you!
New Hueneme Librarian: Welcome to Ms. Melanie H, the new librarian here at Hueneme! She will start with us at the beginning of November.
With thanks,
Mrs. Shallenberger
Entering School: For the 2021-2022 school year, we will have BOTH GATES OPEN as in past years. If your child is having breakfast, please have them enter at the back cafeteria gate from 7:40-7:55. Upper grade students can enter that gate as well. Primary students are welcome to enter on the Clara St. gate. Both gates close promptly at 8:00. Late arrivals should report to the office for a tardy slip and temperature scan.
There is NO supervision prior the gate opening. Please do not drop students off earlier than 7:40. Thank you!
Student Symptom Tree: *Update* Please do a passive screening with your child prior to coming to school. If you notice any of the symptoms on the flyer(see link below), your child may not be able to come onto campus. Please call the office if you have any questions.

Highlights of the month
- This month our Anchored 4 Life leaders completed their annual training and started supporting our students that are experiencing a transition. They will continue developing their leadership skills as they plan activities, provide tours to our new students and distribute kits to our military students. We are very proud of our Team Leaders.
- Second grade started their lessons about self regulation. During the first lesson they learned about how the brain works. Our second lesson will talk about coping skills and what to do when we have big feelings.
- Third grade will be participating on a lesson about bullying. The goal is for students to identify what bullying is as well as the different types. We will also cover what to do and how to report it.
