Message from the principal...
Good Afternoon RPEL Families,
I hope you are all staying healthy and doing well. We miss seeing our students and appreciate the value of human connection more now than ever. Since the governor’s announcement last Thursday with details provided last Friday, we have been working hard to create a plan that best meets the needs of our community and we want to give you a glimpse of some of the details. Please know that the plan will constantly be under construction based on feedback. THANK YOU in advance for your patience as we build the bridge as we walk on it. The intention of our work is to support you and our students, not add stress or overwhelm. We do not want this to be a source of added stress or guilt over what your family can do. We do want each family and student to engage the best they can based on their circumstances and we are creating a flexible plan to meet different needs.
Some things we are working on now:
Teachers are working to develop a CONTINUED LEARNING PLAN. We are building this and nothing is written in cement (more like Jello right now):
We recognize the importance of supporting students SOCIALLY and EMOTIONALLY as well as ACADEMICALLY through this. We feel we have an important role to serve our community in both of these areas and both are a priority for our work.
We will use Monday April 13th as a planning day and communicate with a START DATE of April 14th.
The plan will come to you each Friday with a WEEK overview for the following week. This will allow families the most flexibility to schedule what works for them.
The plan will be consistent for each grade/content, but each teacher will add their own personal touch points and support for students. Your teachers are still a main contact point.
Teachers will connect with students to provide additional details, answer questions, and support work. This could be through e-mail, Zoom, Google Meetings, phone calls, videos, etc. We will support students with the new tools. Remember, many are new for teachers too!
Teachers are going to have scheduled times to connect with students. Please know that if a teacher is having difficulty reaching one of their students, this will be a cause for concern. We want to make sure that our families are doing well emotionally and physically. Please be sure to connect with your child's teacher regularly, for their peace of mind. Thank you!
We will have another day next week to distribute CHROMEBOOKS to families that still need to pick one up. If you still need one and have not completed please send me an email. klimszap@reeths-puffer.org
FOOD DISTRIBUTION is still going on each Wednesday at RPHS from 9-11:00.
Once some of the travel and distancing restrictions are lifted, we will provide times that ITEMS can be RETRIEVED FROM THE SCHOOL BUILDING.
The school building is closed, but school is not. Teaching. learning, and distanced human connection will go on. Among our staff, there is a sense of pride in serving our community in brand new ways during this uncertain time. Please let us know how we can support the engagement of your students during this time.
As always, thank you for your partnership.
