We hope you will join us on Thursday, August 11, from 5:00-7:00 p.m., as Community Betterment hosts our annual Back-to-School Fair. It will be held in the cafeteria, and every student will receive basic school supplies. There will also be dental screenings and haircuts offered, and several activities booths, as well as the ice cream truck.

Lake Regional will also be providing free athletic physicals that night if your student needs one. All athletes must have a physical every two years before they are allowed to practice, so please take advantage of this opportunity!

We will also have enrollment packets ready that night. The district is currently conducting a residency audit, so we will need proof of residency from every family. For more information on this, see the article below.

We hope to see you there as we kick off the 2022-23 school year!

Our athletes will be looking sharp on the court and the field this year in brand new uniforms! The Board approved the purchase of new high school basketball uniforms at the June meeting, and we can't wait for our Lions to take the court in them this year. The Booster Club is also donating new uniforms for the junior high basketball teams, thanks to a large donation. We are also planning the purchase of new baseball jerseys this school year. Please come out and support the Lions in all of their sports and activities and see what amazing things our students can do!

One of the relief measures from which schools and families have benefitted for the past two years, free school meals, has been discontinued for the upcoming school year. Meal prices for the 2022-23 school year will be:

Breakfast: $1.70

Reduced breakfast: $0.30

K-8 lunch: $2.15

9-12 lunch: $2.30

Reduced lunch (K-12): $0.40

Extra milk: $0.45

Extra servings: $0.50 (after everyone is served)

Extra milk and extra servings charges apply to everyone, including those on free/reduced lunch.

We would like to encourage everyone to complete a free/reduced lunch application. Some of the money we receive is determined by our percentage of students who qualify for free/reduced lunch, and the more families who can take advantage of this program, the more financial aid the district can qualify for. This paperwork will be included with enrollment forms.

Monday, August 22: First day of school, classes begin at 8:00 a.m. and end at 3:15 p.m.; first day of Jr. High basketball practice

Open House is being held separately from the Back-to-School Fair this year, and it will be on Thursday, August 18. Students can come meet their teachers as we get ready for the new school year. There will also be athletic meetings that night, and Lake Regional will be offering free physicals for students who need them. The new superintendent, principal, and assistant principal, as well as some of our board members will also be available that night for a meet and greet. This is also an opportunity to submit proof of residency for the district's residency audit.

The Miller County R-III School District is conducting a residency audit as per Section 167.020 (2), RSMo. In order to register a pupil in the district, the parent or legal guardian of the pupil shall provide proof of residency in the district. The term “residency” shall mean that a person both physically resides within a school district and is domiciled within that district. For the purposes of residency verification, the following documents will be accepted:

• Rental Contract
• Real Estate Contract signed by all parties
• Utilities Bill/Deposit Receipt
• Payroll Check, Driver’s License, or other employment documents.

Documentation must be received prior to the first day of school for the student to attend. Non-resident students must have tuition paid or a signed payment plan on file in the superintendent's office prior to the first day of school.
