Message from Mrs. Gilbert & Mr. Ramalho
We have had a great week back with Lights and Lasers enrichment in grade 4 and Sound enrichment for grade one. Our PTO and enrichment coordinators do a wonderful job of finding and booking worthwhile standards based enrichment throughout the year!
Term 1 closed on November 29th and our second round of conferences is coming up on December 7th as well as report card distribution.
If you have not had a chance to connect with your teacher(s) please reach out to schedule a conference. We value the collaboration.
Respectfully,
Terri and Jayson

- When you enter the building, please sign in and take a visitors sticker
- At the end of your conference, please be sure to sign out (K-3)
- Fourth Grade Parents: The main building is open until 4:30 pm. Please buzz in through the main building and check out with teachers. You DO NOT need to come back to the main building to sign out.
Megan Bates - New Psych Intern: Dr. Brogan is excited to announce that Megan Bates, "Miss Meg" will be joining the South Row community as a psychology intern for the remainder of the 2022-2023 school year. Miss Meg will be at South Row on Tuesdays and Fridays. Meg is currently a doctoral student in Clinical Psychology at William James College. Meg graduated from Hamilton College with a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology and went on to teach social emotional learning in Maine public schools for two years. Meg then moved to Boston and worked as a behavioral therapist while starting graduate school. Meg's previous clinical placements have included working with children at an outpatient community health clinic and adults in a partial hospitalization program. Please join us in welcoming Meg!
Arrival and Dismissal Reminders: As we approach the winter months, we wanted to provide some arrival/dismissal reminders. Please take the time to review carefully.
Traveling with Friends:
- Friends CANNOT travel with friends on different busses
- If friends are traveling by car pick up with another family, the classroom teacher and office staff must receive written notification with all parents on the email.
Car Numbers
- If you are picking up your child at car pick up, please have your car numbers on display.
- If you need an additional car number sign, please contact Mrs. O'Neill and Mrs. Sepe in the main office.
- If staff members do not recognize individuals picking up or if your car number is not on display, you may be asked to show your ID. Please be prepared.
Car Arrival
- Please do your best to arrive between 8:45 am-9:00 am. After 9:00 am, and cones are out in the parking lot, please go to the main office door to drop off your child(ren).
- In an effort to increase independence, please support your child in getting in and out of the car from inside the automobile and support our staff in helping them to walk independently to the car door with staff support. Families getting out of cars causes delays.
- Your car should be in park when you are positioned in one of four rows
- Under no circumstances should your car leave the loop unless directed by a staff member. This is for student and staff safety.
- **If you feel your child needs additional support, parents are always welcome to park in the church parking lot and walk your child to the building (AM) by approaching the parking lot (treeline).
Car Dismissal:
- Students should not go to cars unless directed by a staff member
- Please expect staff to be checking cars to be sure children are in them before we release cars out of the loop.
- Under no circumstances should your car leave the loop unless directed by a staff member. This is for student and staff safety.
- We are working on increasing our kindergarten independence with the support of fourth-grade helpers. Please support us by practicing their numbers at home and allowing them to find your car independently. Adults should remain inside cars.
Should you have any questions on car arrival/dismissal procedures and/or feel your child needs additional support, please contact Mr. Ramalho at ramalhoj@chelmsford.k12.ma.us
Holiday Season Approaching: The Holiday season is fast approaching. If your family is in need of support, do not hesitate to reach out to a support team member (Mrs. Gilbert, Mr. Ramalho, Nurse Vandevoordt, Dr. Brogan, Mr. Liechty, or Ms. Katie).

December Kind Act - Wish Project
Recently The Wish Project has been struggling to keep items in stock as they have been getting more people in need of their basic supplies every day (currently they are helping between 30 to 40 families a day). The South Row community is getting behind The Wish Project work as we will be collecting these much needed items throughout the month of December:
- deodorant for men and women
- body wash for children
- full size shampoo for adults and children
- full size toothpaste and toothbrushes for adults and children
- diaper cream
- hand soap
- dish soap
- dish sponges
These donations are not expected but they are certainly appreciated. Thank you for spreading kindness throughout our community.
Nurses Corner
Dear South Row Families,
Fall viruses are here and in full effect. Please view the chart below that you might find helpful. If your student is sick with fever, cough, sore throat, or nasal congestion, I recommend a home covid test and calling their pediatrician to check in.
The full Covid Protocol can be found here.
Returning to school after illness:
If a student has a fever (temperature of 100.0 or higher), they must be fever-free for 24 hours before they can return to school.
If a student has unexplained vomiting or diarrhea (not due to chronic disease), they must be symptom-free for 24 hours before returning to school.
Guidelines for returning to school after illness can be found here.
Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions.
Warmly,
Nurse V.
