College Application Week!

Monday, 10/24

TOUGH Talk

- November 3rd is the last day to turn in TOUGH Tags for the Q1 Incentive...no exceptions!

- Students who have been nominated for student of the week automatically get invited to the incentive. You have shown that you have heart!

- Students who finish Q1 with perfect attendance automatically get invited to the incentive. You have really gone above and beyond!

- Students who finish Q1 with "all A's" automatically get invited to the incentive. You have obtained your goals!

This week, seniors will be participating in College Application Week! Ms. Reed has sent out appointment information to all seniors. This will be a time for seniors to work on college applications, financial aid, and anything related to post-secondary plans. Please contact Ms. Reed with questions!"

Seniors and families, join us for this Money for College event, covering everything you need to know about the financial aid process!

Laura Shahan from Chesapeake College's Financial Aid office will cover federal student aid programs, MD state scholarship programs, private scholarship sources, cost of attendance and financial need, tips and tricks for FAFSA, and more.

Week of October 24

Cap and Gown Orders:

Cap and gown ordering information has been given to seniors, emailed to families and shared via school social media. There are many Jostens products available: the cap and gown package (must purchase), announcements/thank you notes (optional), clothing (optional), class ring and other jewelry (optional).

There are three ways to place an order:

1. online at jostens.com

2. mailing in the order form

3. calling 1.800.JOSTENS

Jostens will return Monday October 24 to take cap and gown orders during all lunch shifts. If you are not ready to order at that time, you can order online at a later date. REMEMBER, IF YOU ARE ONLY ORDERING THE CAP AND GOWN UNIT, ORDERS CAN BE PLACED WITHOUT A DEPOSIT. Our goal is to have all orders placed before December 31, as the price increases after the first of the year.

Senior Portrait Retakes:

Senior Portrait retakes will be offered on November 16 in the CRHS Auditorium. This is for seniors who were unable to have their photo taken during the summer. More information on this will be coming soon.

IF YOU ARE ONLY ORDERING THE CAP AND GOWN UNIT:

* you can place the order with no money down. Just fill out the order form with height and weight and turn the form in on Monday. You can pay at a later date.

IF YOU ARE ORDERING A PACKAGE OR THE CAP AND GOWN WITH OTHER ITEMS:

* if balance is more than $75, a deposit of $75 must accompany your order. You can bring the completed order form and the deposit and turn it in on Monday.

IF YOU ARE NOT READY TO ORDER ON MONDAY OCTOBER 24:

* you can order at a later date - online, by phone or by turning in form to Mrs. France at the school.

Do you think you are the most talented student at CRHS? The Drama Club would like to announce the 2022 Talent Show with a $300 prize. This is open to all students, and we are accepting all kinds of acts: singers, dancers, comedians, jugglers, or anything else you could have in mind. If you are interested in participating, please stay after for an information meeting on Thursday from 3:00-4:00 in the auditorium. This will also be a normal Drama Club meeting. See Mr. Sousa with questions.

AP students and their parents received personalized versions of this letter this week. If you are interested in taking the AP exam for free in May please let Mrs. North know by November 7th either by email or by signing and turning in the letter.

Colonel Richardson High School is set to participate in the 2022 Maryland Youth Risk Behavior Survey and Youth Tobacco Survey (MD YRBS/YTS). CRHS is signed up to complete the survey on Friday, October 28, 2022 during our second block classes. This survey should take 30 to 45 minutes to complete for students. Classrooms will be randomly selected to participate in the survey by a member from the YTS committee.
