The South Western Sydney Region ICT consultancy team have planned a wide variety of workshops that integrate ICT as a core capability in the Learning across the Curriculum areas. This will be delivered through practical workshops, video conferences and Adobe Connect sessions.
This e-flyer will be updated every fortnight so you will always be informed as to the latest workshops and ideas for the integration of ICT across the curriculum. Could you please forward this e-flyer to any teachers you feel may also be interested in these opportunities. Have a great term!

Upcoming ICT Workshops
Transforming Pedagogy through Peer Coaching
Peer coaching is a process grounded in research by which teachers work with one another to share expertise and provide feedback, support and assistance. Peer coaches support colleagues in their schools with the integration of technology to improve lesson design and classroom learning activities by incorporating engaging strategies to enhance student learning outcomes. The Transforming Pedagogy through Peer Coaching program will require nominated teachers to attend all 3 days training and complete all assessment components to gain the Microsoft accredited Peer Coach qualification. Applications close Thursday 25 July. This will be the final offering of this course for 2013.

Inquiry Learning through Self-Organised Learning Environments (SOLE)
South Western Sydney Region Curriculum and Leadership Portfolio has developed this program to build schools’ capacities to investigate the impact of inquiry learning through Self-Organised Learning Environments on student learning (Sugata Mitra). This professional learning program is available to 20 schools in our region.
Expressions of Interest for this program will be advertised in SchoolBiz on Friday 19 July (Week 1). Expressions of Interest due Friday 16 August.
SWSR Leadership and ICT (LeadIT) Program
Managing ICT within a school site offers a range of challenges regarding logistics planning, budgeting and supporting the effective integration of ICT in teaching and learning. Support will be provided for Principals and school technology leaders in the development of a whole school e-Vision focusing on pedagogy and site logistics (infrastructure) through a series of leadership and ICT learning modules.

Apple Configurator Workshop
This workshop is aimed at staff looking at streamlining the management of iPads. In this hands-on workshop, you will be guided step-by-step in how to use Configurator to install the latest iOS, and a selection of free and paid apps. You will also learn how
to make and install Profiles.

Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)
The workshop aims to guide schools interested in implementing a BYOD program. A number of key aspects will be covered regarding current DEC policy & guidelines and translating the information into a 'real' plan. Publishing Imaginative Texts using Digital Technologies K-6

This one-day workshop is an introduction to creating and publishing imaginative texts to the web (K-6) with many hands on examples for participants to experiment and demonstrate a willingness to learn and change. The workshop will cover the pedagogy and effective integration of ICT including examining the SAMR model of technology integration.

This one-day workshop is an introduction to authentically integrating ICT in the new NSW English 7-10 syllabus. Participants will look at models of technology integration, examine the English syllabus and a number of ICT tools and websites that can be used when programming for the new syllabus.

Bringing History Alive with Web 2 Tools

This workshop will introduce history teachers to a variety of tools to bookmark and curate websites, create interactive timelines and produce word clouds and link these to content and outcomes in the new 7-10 History syllabus.

Transforming teaching in English using Tablet Technology (iPads) K-10

Tablet technologies have the potential to truly transform the way we interact with the world around us. Significant impacts of tablets include providing ease of access, enabling individualised learning, facilitating enhanced communication, and making learning mobile. So how do you foster transformative learning with tablet devices in the English KLA? It begins with the educator serving as a role model by demonstrating a willingness to learn and change.

Connect, Collaborate and Communicate in all KLAs

This course will equip participants to integrate ICT into the curriculum across all key learning areas to engage learners in the middle years. The course will showcase examples with strategies and creative ways of including ICT in current classroom practice. Participants will have an opportunity to independently explore a range of web based tools to enable the students to connect, collaborate and communicate effectively to enhance and support student learning.

Digital Media to Enrich Literacy Across the Curriculum

This course will equip participants to develop and embed digital media resources into the curriculum to engage learners in the middle years. The course will showcase examples with strategies and creative ways of integrating ICT in current classroom practice. Participants will have an opportunity to independently explore a range of ICT concepts including infographics, interactive forms and e-flyers.

I am a learner who loves to try new ideas when teaching. I have completed a Graduate Certificate in ICT Education and more recently a Masters in ICT in Education at CSU. I trialled blogED with my opportunity class before it came out and this year became a DEC Google Champion to assist teachers when Google Apps is available in our portal. When not working in Riverwood I am teaching over 200 students each week.
