Grewenow. We are Great; we are Growing!
Mr. Sellenheim's Greeting
We at Grewenow want to wish every single family a fantastic Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Safe travels if you are leaving town, and cherish the moments with your families and friends.
I am so grateful to be the principal of this school community and hope you know how much of a pleasure to work with students, staff, and families each and every day. An educator couldn't ask for a more warm, kind, caring, and thoughtful group of people to be around, work with, and learn from every day! Take care and make the most of every experience you get this holiday weekend
Thanksgiving School Closures
A friendly reminder that we will have early release on Wednesday, November 21st and no school on November 22nd and 23rd due to the Thanksgiving Holiday.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
2nd and 3rd Concert
The 2nd and 3rd grade concert is near!!! “On with the Snow” is the name of our show! It will be held on Thursday, December 13th at 6:00. We are going to have great music, wonderful acting, lots of laughs & heartwarming moments! Mark the date on the calendar and we’ll see you there! Your kids can’t wait to show you what they’ve been working on!
The Dragon Essentials
With that, our Grewenow staff developed what is called "The Dragon Essentials" or expectations for how to treat others and find success at school. The 22 guidelines which are not just rules, but a "way to be" were groups into four categories: Listening, Following Along, "Try it Out," and "The Golden Rule."
The link to view Grewenow Elementary's "Dragon Essentials" document is below this message.
We are excited to share this message with you, and to work with our families in getting to the heart of developing students who truly show the Dragon Way wherever they go!
General Announcements
Grewenow Food Drive
Please donate nonperishable food items to Grewenow Elementary between November 15th-29th as you are able. All food items are distributed to local organizations that deliver food baskets to families in need over the holidays.
Any and all items are appreciated!
Pennies for Patients
Grewenow families...our school has accepted the challenge of helping to find a cure for blood cancer! We are joining over 27,000 schools across the nation to make a difference and raise as much money as we can to help Wisconsin blood cancer patients! From November 30th - December 14th our school will be working to reach a goal of $750. Encouraging your children to participate in this effort will grow empathy and help them understand the importance of helping others. Your students will be bringing home a Parent Letter telling you more about how you can support our Pennies for Patients program, but for now please encourage your children to set aside their coins. Pennies, Nickels, Dimes, Quarters and even Dollars will be accepted! Watch for more details to come!
Attention 5th Grade Students !
Attendance
A child cannot be excused more than ten (10) days in a full school year. As per Wisconsin State Statutes, all absences beyond ten (10) days would be marked unexcused and treated accordingly. Any days missed after the 10 days, no matter at what point during the school year, will need a medical excuse for each day they missed after that 10th day. If a medical note is not received, the days are marked unexcused or truant.
