Student Council Elections
RHHS will hold Student Council Elections in August 2020. If you are interested in running for office, please fill out the Intent to Run form and review the Campaign Guidelines form by August 7, 2020. We will hold a Campaign Meeting on August 10, 2020 to kick off our election process.
Student Advisory Council seeking applicants
The One Bryan Student Advisory Council is comprised of 2 students from each grade level, grades 7-12, from each district middle and high school. The One Bryan SAC meets four times a year (once a quarter) to discuss how decisions being made at the board and at schools impact students in Bryan County. We may also be doing a service project to give back to the community, so applicants should be interested in community service as well.
Meetings will alternate among each of the 4 schools, so every student has an opportunity to show off his/her school and share ideas. The meetings start at 9:00 a.m. and last until about 12:00 p.m. These times may vary, and lunch is provided. SENIORS - if you are dual-enrolled and those classes prevent you from attending quarterly meetings, you are not eligible. Students should be able to attend most, if not all, quarterly meetings.
If a student is selected to the One Bryan Student Advisory Council, he or she is elected to a 2-year term. At the end of the 2 years, students may reapply if they wish. Students will receive more detailed information regarding meetings and community service. To be eligible for the council, your application must be received by Wednesday, May 6, 2020. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered. Students who are selected for the council will be notified via email, and this information will be posted on the Bryan County Schools website.
The following seats are currently open and eligible for application for the 2020-2021 SY:
BCMS - two 7th Graders
RHMS - two 7th Graders - one 8th Grader
BCHS - two 9th Graders - two 10th Graders - one 11th Grader - one 12th Grader
RHHS - two 10th Graders - two 11th Graders - two 12th Graders

Senior chromebook buyback
Chromebooks not purchased must be returned to the school on either May 12 or May 13 during our designated collection hours. Broken, damaged, and/or inoperable chromebooks will not be accepted and the student will be charged $65. Returned chromebooks must be free of stickers and fully operable, per our user agreement. If your chromebook is damaged, covered with stickers, or inoperable, you will be expected to buy the chromebook.
We are NOT collecting chromebooks from underclassmen at this time.
Yearbooks
Yearbooks have not yet arrived. Once we receive them, we will develop a plan for distribution and notify students/families.
Curbside collection carnival
Prior to May 12, we will share a map identifying the drop-off point for each item. All drop-off points will be curbside - a member of the RHHS staff will come to your vehicle to retrieve the item(s) to be returned.
*Important - Seniors only - if you need your chromebook for AP tests, you may keep it and return it to RHHS after AP exams - click this link to let us know you need your chromebook for AP testing.
eLearning updates - revised calendar
Instruction for high school students will conclude on May 7th for those students who have made adequate progress and are passing their classes. Students who have not made adequate progress or who are not passing a particular class will be required to participate in remediation from May 11-14 in an effort to improve progress and complete assignments. Students requiring remediation will be notified individually by his/her teacher no later than May 7th. Students who are passing and want to participate in the remediation week to increase their current course average must notify their teacher no later than May 6th.
Students are encouraged to continue to participate in eLearning and complete assignments. If a student has incomplete assignments or assignments not yet submitted, I would suggest contacting the teacher about making up this work.
All assignments during eLearning will be categorized as either "EOC" or "Final Exam". We are using these categories because they are already setup in PowerSchool and factored into the gradebook setup, and carry less weight than either the formative or summative categories. For high school students, eLearning assignments will constitute a small percentage of the overall course grade. We are doing this so that eLearning grades will not have a disproportionate amount of impact on any child's overall course grade.
Countdown to Graduation 2020
On May 16, the virtual component of the graduation will begin at 8am (a link will be posted to the RHHS website and all available social media sites), and the car rider line portion of the ceremony will take place beginning at 9am. An email with details about graduation has been sent to all parents/guardians of seniors.
Final transcripts will be processed at the end of this semester. Each graduating senior receives one final transcript at no charge. Please click the link below and tell us where to send your final transcript.

Caps and gowns will be distributed on May 5th. Vehicles must enter on WEST campus using the entrance closest to Ashton apartments. Students with last names A-M should arrive between 9-10am; students with last names N-Z should arrive between 10-11am.
Cap and gown pictures are delayed. The production facility is closed right now. Once the facility re-opens, production will resume. We do not have an expected date for delivery at this time.
AP Exam Changes
Due to the unexpected school closure, College Board has made significant changes to the AP exam process this year. Students will take their exams at home and can complete the exam on a variety of devices. Each test will consist of Free Response Questions and will last approximately 45 minutes. The testing window has been altered as well; AP exams will be administered May 11 – 22. Please click HERE for more information.
If you have further questions, please contact your child’s AP teacher or our AP coordinator, Mrs. Tanner (mtanner@bryan.k12.ga.us).
Moving this summer? Please let us know...
Each year, we receive requests for student records when students move and transfer schools. Please help us make that transition as easy for you as possible and let us know if you will be withdrawing your child this summer.
Chromebook device support
Bryan County Schools has established a centralized location where BCS technology devices will be issued and replaced by appointment. If your child's chromebook becomes inoperable, or you need a charger, you will need to schedule an appointment so another device can be made available. The tech depot will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays between the hours of 9:00am & 1:00pm.
Scheduling of appointments can be done by either calling (912.531.3099) or using this online link: https://tinyurl.com/upqh47h

GSU modifying their admission requirements for Summer and Fall
Georgia Southern University first year applicants for Summer 2020 and Fall 2020 are not being required to submit ACT or SAT scores as a requirement of their institution application.
According to University's Office of Admissions website, “First-year students applying to Georgia Southern University for the summer and fall 2020 semesters can be admitted without an ACT or SAT score, if they have a sufficiently high GPA.”
Counselors at RHHS encourage students to stay connected throughout the time of e-learning. Grades are going to matter more than ever without the ACT or SAT being considered for admission at GSU! Official high school transcripts will be used to evaluate a student’s academic performance and will be used in the college admission process. The COVID-19 pandemic has led the College Board and ACT to suspend many upcoming ACT and SAT testing dates. More information about these cancellations can be found at Collegeboard.com and ACT.org.
The University System of Georgia authorized the change that granted GSU prospective first-year students to meet all other admission requirements, including satisfactory completion of the required high school curriculum and all other requested documentation.
Georgia Southern enrollment counselors remain available to assist applicants and prospective students via phone and email.
Please note that the change to waive the test requirement is ONLY for first year applicants. Dual Enrollment applicants must still meet the required scores and GPA as indicated and set forth by the university.
Other universities and colleges throughout the states may or may not be adjusting dates and application criteria. Students and families should visit the school’s website they are interested in to learn about the most current information during this time.
