Central Elementary
Parent Newsletter 5/4/23
A Note from Mr. Hamilton, Principal
Greetings,
It's hard to believe May is here, and just a month's worth of opportunities remain in the 2022-2023 school year. During last week's staff meeting, we discussed finishing strong, with particular emphasis on outdoor learning, purposeful and culminating experiences, and overall joy. Please join us in pouring into your child, and all of our kids, in the days and weeks to come. Particularly, let's rally for our fourth grade students in the little time that remains, before bidding them farewell to the Intermediate.
We've certainly been through a lot this year as a Central community. And, we've come together to help, heal, love, and overcome. Although it hasn't been easy, I hope it's been awesome. I am proud of our students and staff.
Looking forward to a strong finish with you for kids!
Cordially,
Cody

EXTENDED DUE DATE for Fence Post Fundraiser - Please return to school no later than Monday, May 15th
Here are a few tips if you're still working on it:
The wood is treated, so be careful to avoid splinters.
Use acrylic paint to make it look terrific! We will lacquer and protect all of the fence posts before installing.
Your child/ren’s names or last names would be lovely.
Let other family members know about it! Grandparents, aunts and uncles are welcome to participate.
You can paint just one side or both.

Parent and Staff Summer Book Club
Dear Central Families,
You are invited to participate in a Parent & Staff book club this summer around the book There’s No Such Thing as Bad Weather by Linda Akeson Mcgurk. The book is already favorite among many Central staff members already, and we think you’d love it too. The group will meet three times throughout the summer, likely at Aldea Coffee Shop (794 Pine St. Muskegon) to discuss parts of the book. The book costs about $11 online for a paperback copy. We have some funds available to cover the cost of the book if needed. Our meeting dates will be Thursday, June 22, July 27 and August 17th from 6-7pm. Please let us know if you are interested by emailing Rebecca Sandee at sandeer@reeths-puffer.org. Feel free to “join” even if you can’t make it to the meetings. It’s a great read!
On June 22 we will discuss pages 1-74.
On July 27 we will discuss pages 75-168.
On August 17 we will discuss pages 169-259.

A Message from the Foodservice Director
Please complete a school lunch application if your income has changed since you last filled one out or if you have not yet completed one this year. This information is super helpful for R-P funding, but also necessary for food service to have if an additional round of P-EBT cards go out. Complete the form online at familyportal.cloud. THANK YOU!
