Bath Tech

One of the requirements of being in the Culinary Arts program is to keep an online portfolio that the students can then send to future employers. One of the first portfolio assignments was to style a glass of water to make it look aesthetically pleasing while using a variety of different vessels and ingredients. Everyone knows what a glass of water looks like, but the idea behind this task was to style it in a way that the instructors would purchase it if given the opportunity in a restaurant setting. Another portfolio assignment was plating and how to properly create a balanced plate that was visually appealing while using something as well known as a Twinkie. The students enjoyed being creative with their water and plate design skills. In the end, no two students' creations were alike, but they all looked amazing!

Each year we introduce our students to an opportunity to take a community college course and receive college credit as they study their vocational program at Bath Tech. As part of the application process, your student is required to provide a parent email address. The purpose of this is for the college to get the student's parent consent to take a college course. We want to share this information with you so that you will know, in advance, that such an email will show up in your mailbox. You simply will provide that permission and submit it in reply and the college will notify us when they have your consent.

This program is a great opportunity for your student to acquire college credit at the same time they're completing their high school coursework. If you would like more information or have questions about this, please feel free to call Mr. Dorr at Bath Tech (443-8257).
