This Week in Art

by Ethan, grade 8 - This week in art we drew figures. As well we did the figure and put watercolor on it. We also did a magazine and did questions on it. The honor art people went on a field trip to a museum of art this week.

by Peyton, grade 7 - This is what we did this week in class. This week we have been taking a stick figure and changing them into real people. We added more detail and more width to the the figure more people-like. We also angled their backs to match the position of their posture. So, now we are watercoloring our posters and we are using warm and cool colors to paint the person and the background.

by Kara, grade 8 - This week in in art we continued to work on our independent project. This Wednesday, we had a field trip to Atlanta, Georgia to the High Museum of Art. We toured through a 3D-printed furniture exhibit and saw hundreds of different media. the people who couldn't accompany us to the trip learned about Edvard Munch who is the artist of The Scream.

by Tori, grade 6 - This week in art we learned a lot this week. We learned how to use Artsonia. This app allows you to post your art and so much more. We also got to finish our Alabama aviation drawing and if we wanted we can put them into a contest. We also did a rubric on our warm oil pastels and cool abstract art. We glued them together and posted it to Artsonia. I hope you enjoyed this week's paper. Keep working hard.

Due Thursday 4/19: Something about peace. Art II sketchbook assignments should look like finished works of art, like they took about an hour to complete. They are due every Thursday.

Do you have a 6th-grade to eighth grade daughter who would like to learn more about engineering? iCan Girls in Engineering will be hosting a FREE event for students and parents on Saturday, April 14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Corporate Headquarters. Students will participate in project-based activities and a team competition to learn about different disciplines of engineering. Parents get to spend time learning how to prepare and equip their students for a career in engineering. This will be a fun-filled day of learning and interacting with female engineers and students.

For 6th & 7th graders:

Tryouts for next year’s middle school basketball teams will be held April 24th-26th at the HTMS gymnasium. Upcoming 8th grade boys will tryout from 3p-445p and upcoming 7th grade boys will tryout from 5p-645p. Any boys interested in trying out that have not already signed up for google classroom need to do so by Wednesday, April 18th. There are several required forms that must be completed by this date as well. More specific information can be found in the middle school basketball google classroom. The code for that classroom is xws7hr. Thanks!
