Journeying in Hope and Love: Building a Culture of Accompaniment
The Road to Emmaus
As they approached the village to which they were going,
he gave the impression that he was going on farther.
But they urged him, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening and the day is almost over.”
So he went in to stay with them.
And it happened that, while he was with them at table,
he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them.
With that their eyes were opened and they recognized him,
but he vanished from their sight.
Then they said to each other, “Were not our hearts burning [within us]
while he spoke to us on the way and opened the scriptures to us?”
Then the two recounted what had taken place on the way
and how he was made known to them in the breaking of the bread.
~ Luke 24:28-32, 35
Dear St. Clare School Families,
Happy Catholic Schools’ Week! This will be a relative short newsletter as you have already received a lot of information in the past week. I will focus my message on thanking all of you for your continued participation and partnership in the life of St. Clare School and Parish. Your commitment to fulfill our mission and support our efforts to provide Catholic education has sustained St. Clare School for 165 years! Thank you.
I am sending along information about our Catholic Schools Week celebrations. I hope to see many of you at tomorrow’s Family Mass at 10:30 A.M. or the Noon Mass in Spanish. Remember that students who come in Formal Uniform may claim a Non-Uniform Pass. Student Council will be providing donuts after mass as well. Our faculty and staff will be there to show solidarity and so that we may recognize them.
Please make every effort to send your teachers and our support staff a note of thanks this week for all the hard work of maintaining a safe and loving environment in which to learn during this pandemic. Keep them all in your prayers. I want to especially recognize our VIP for the past couple of weeks: Mrs. Rizzo who has been managing the questions from parents who need clarifications around CoVid protocols. It can be overwhelming, but Mrs. Rizzo has kept her cool and still responds to questions with patience and understanding. Thank you, Cherell!
On Monday, we invite you to join us for an hour of prayer with Bishop Cantú for Catholic Schools Week (details in the CSW document).
In addition to Catholic Schools’ Week, we are also celebrating the start of Lunar New Year AND Black History Month on Tuesday, February 1st. Our classrooms will be filled with lively celebrations of our beautiful and diverse community!
VERY IMPORTANT: Kindly review the Re-Enrollment and 2022-23 Tuition packet sent home on Friday (also posted on ParentSquare) as it requires a response from you by Tuesday, February 1st. Thank you for your prompt attention. As always, please reach out to me if you have any questions.
Let’s continue to work together to keep one another safe. We appreciate you keeping us posted on developments in your household so that we can respond appropriately.
As always, I am grateful for your continued partnership and commitment to the work of our team.
Peace and all good things,
Mrs. Cecile Mantecon, Principal

2021-22 School Calendar
Below, you will find the Calendar Grid for the school year. Some find this difficult to navigate, so I’ve created the Calendar Highlights document which I hope will make it a bit easier for you to consume.
Some changes since the end of the school year: we added September 20th as a NO SCHOOL DAY and our School Year will end a day earlier. The original calendar had us attending 183 days of school, knowing that we had three days over the required 180 days. We are keeping the 181 days in the event we have to close for an emergency due to poor air quality.
Other options to view the calendar include a Google calendar synched to ParentSquare, or subscribing to the St. Clare School Public Calendar below:

You are invited to subscribe to the St. Clare School *PUBLIC* Google Calendar which is also synched to ParentSquare.
