Friday Family Update
December 2, 2022
Dear Families,
Another great week is in the books at PRES! In the picture above, our fourth graders are preparing for a percussion performance at the Seekonk Home Depot on December 18th. Mrs. Grant, our music teacher will be sending home more information about this voluntary opportunity for our 4th graders soon. Click on the picture above to view a quick video of a practice session this week.
With December arriving on Thursday, we felt a bit of cold weather this week. Please make sure that your child comes to school with appropriate winter weather gear (coat, hat, gloves, boots, and hat). Please be sure to label clothing, too. We try to take students outdoors for recess play every day unless the temperature/playground conditions are unsafe for outside play. If your child does not have a winter coat or winter weather gear, and the school can assist with this, please contact Mrs. Kefor, Principal at kkefor@drregional.org or by phone at 508-252-5100.
As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact us anytime. We are happy to help. have a great weekend.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kristine Kefor, Principal

PRES Spring MCAS Schedule
This spring, the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) will hold spring MCAS testing for PRES students in grades 3 and 4. In case you are unfamiliar with the Commonwealth’s testing system, MCAS (Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System) are standardized tests that are taken by all students in Massachusetts who attend public schools. MCAS tests are administered in English Language Arts and Mathematics for students in Grade 3 and 4.
We are sharing the MCAS testing dates with you since student attendance during testing sessions is extremely important. We thank you in advance for making every effort to limit time out of school during the MCAS testing window. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me.

Take a Peek at Our Week!
This Month's Lunch Menu
Dear Palmer River Friends and Families -
This week I am reviewing some important holiday fire safety tips. They are commonplace, however, a quick run down with the children is beneficial, in case of an emergency.
Check the batteries of your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
Verify that the gauges on your fire extinguishers are fully charged.
Extinguishers for the kitchen should state they are applicable for grease, electrical, and ordinary combustibles.
Keep candles, matches, and lighters out of reach of children - and away from other flammables..
Child and Pet Fire Rescue Window Alert Decals are now illegal in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Practice your evacuation drills and have alternate meeting places.
Stop, Drop and Roll - If your clothing catches on fire. NEVER RUN!
PASS (pull, aim, squeeze, sweep at the base of a fire) know how to use your fire extinguisher.
Get Low and Go when evacuating a smoked and fire filled home.
Close the doors behind you when exiting rooms.
If you are trapped in a room, hang a sheet, towel, or curtain out the window and close the window. This will alert fire rescue that someone is inside.
Block the cracks of the doors with rolled up towels or clothing to prevent smoke from entering the room.
Here is a useful fire safety link: Fire Safety Education Video.
Sincerely,
Nurse Alyson Bellora
