Grewenow. We are Great; we are Growing!

The BUILDING is closed but SCHOOL is NOT over, and students, staff, and families are not currently permitted into any school buildings...HOWEVER, there is still plenty of learning and fun taking place via the Grewenow online learning webpage and grade level Google Classrooms!

Below, you will not only find information updates, but snapshots and highlights from each classroom including learning updates, lessons, and even some student work samples.

• NOTE: Information about the pick up for student belongings is coming soon. We are planning the pick up of items left at school for the last week of May in hopes that the yearbooks will be included!

If you have yet to pick up the KUSD device you requested for your child, the pick up location is now the in the back of the Education Support Center (District Office) building at 3600 52nd Street. You may go to the ESC and pick up a device at the following time. If you need to request a device for pick up, please use this link to submit the form. Times the next few weeks are

In addition to the video message above, Mr. Sellenheim and Mrs Schilz, our Library media teacher wanted to share the Parent Info wesbite for students & families with regular information and guidelines about internet safety.

Here is an excellent article with some tips for video chatting and primary aged students which is more popular during the COVID-19 epidemic than ever.

Families, we welcome you to send any photos or videos of our students participating in learning or other fun activities. Simply send us a private message on our Facebook page with a short explanation of the activity along with your photo or video.
We look forward to seeing our students!

During this time of change and the unknown, many children (and adults) can feel overwhelmed. Taking time to pause can be beneficial as we process our feelings.

The Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast have provided our students with extra enrichment materials for families to use during this time of quarantine and remote learning.

All activities are broken down by grade level, organizations such as museums and aquariums, and some general resources from the Girl Scouts.

The early education team continues to put out some fantastic activities through their classroom Dojo. This week featured opportunities for students to do an outdoor scavenger hunt and buildig structures with materials at home! Left to right you will see a screen shot of a video lesson, and two student creations.

The Thursday and Friday acrtivity this week featured the Parts of a sentence video and

to choose 2-3 sentences each day cutting them apart and putting them in the right order. Ofcourse students should practice reading and writing them too!

All of our kindergarten classrooms have been hosting Google Meetings for students to check in virtually and see their peers. It was wonderful to see the smiles of those who joined in!

Big time celebrations in grade 1 this week as students have been practicing their math skills through our online IXL software. Below is a summary of our students' collective efforts. Way to go!

This week's grade two work featured a few different slide presentations as some excellent visuals for students to gain an understanding of partitioning (fractions) as well as a small moments writing lesson

This week the grade 3 team dove into some compare and contrast work of retelling of the classic fairy tale, Rapunzel. The image below is a screenshot of a Screencast of Ms. Newman narrating the story. It received a lot of positive feedback from students.

This week, grade 4 is into full swing with Google class meetings. They've held meets on multiple different subject areas. In addition to connecting face to face with students (virtually), they also introduced a "shout out board" for those who are taking their learning to the next level. Grade 5 students are being challenged to regularly for 20 mintues, think deeply about their story, and respond with a video or written reflection. Below is a sample of the choice boxes for responses. The teachers also share a daily riddle. This one, I promise will make you think a little...
