Dear EC Kindergarten Families,


We wanted you to have options to continue your child's learning throughout the summer months. Below, not only will you will find different opportunities to help your child strengthen the kindergarten standards they have learned this year, but also help them get a head start on 1st grade standards. We hope you find these suggestions helpful and useful. We miss all our Kinder Cubs and can't wait to see them and all of you again (in person) sooner rather than later. Our best to you all. Stay safe and healthy.

Suggested Summer Bridging Activities

MATH:

  • complete any workbook page that is still in your book
  • counting to 100
  • skip counting by 5's, 10's, and 2's
  • create addition and subtraction equations horizontally and vertically
  • one less, one more, ten less, ten more
  • money--counting coins
  • telling time by the hour


LANGUAGE ARTS:


  • reading at your child's level (RazKids through your child's Clever Account)
  • reading aloud to your child
  • discussing character, setting, plot, problem, and solution in stories
  • discussing main idea and details in nonfiction books
  • letter sounds
  • breaking words apart and putting words together
  • sight words
  • sentence writing (stretching sounds, using finger spaces, upper case at the beginning, punctuation at the end, and sight word use)



OTHER EXTRAS:


  • tying shoe laces
  • independently logging on to their Google account
