In the event your child is absent due to illness, please be sure to send a paper note in with him/her on the day of return. While notifying your child's teacher or Nurse Donna using Dojo is a good idea to keep the lines of communication open, it does not replace sending in an actual note. We keep all notes on file for legal purposes and are unable to designate an absence "excused" without one. If your child is absent due to illness for more than three consecutive days, a doctor's note will be required to classify the additional days as excused. Thank you for your attention to this important matter!

One of our hallways underwent an exciting makeover during December break! Our new sensory pathway was installed, and students in all grades have already begun enjoying its benefits. Sensory pathways help students develop motor skills like balance, hand-eye coordination, and spatial awareness. Ours requires students to hop, step, jump, squat and even complete wall push ups to get their wiggles out and provide a quick brain break.

Mrs. Reis’ Technology Literacy class is having a ton of fun in January! Kindergarten and first graders are learning how to log in to the computer using their usernames and passwords, how to navigate a mouse, and some beginner coding skills. Second graders are exploring the Blue-Bot Robots, learning about how computers work, as well as being challenged to use their critical thinking skills to open a locked box with puzzle clues. Third graders are learning about online etiquette such as pausing before your post, not posting personal information such as your name, password, or birthday, and learning how to recognize a fake website with information that may not be true. Fourth graders will be learning the program Tinkercad and will be creating a 3-D printed keychain. They also unlocked a locked box by solving clues that pertained to making good decisions while using social media.

Mrs. Westphal’s class had fun with Mrs. Roy during their Amplify Skills lesson while playing Memory with matching words and pictures!

This week during Amplify CKLA lessons, students in Ms. Ganshaw’s first grade class were eager to share their understanding of the heart and circulatory system while talking about Damar Hamlin’s recent cardiac arrest.

Mrs. Uhle’s class combined skills learned in Tech class, Science and Amplify Unit 2: Animal Classification to create their final Google Slides presentation. Students were incredibly engaged and excited to share their findings!

Mrs. Conlon and Mrs. Chatt taught students all about the eye in Unit 3: The Human Body. Students were intrigued to find out about tear ducts and the inner workings of the eye.

Santa came to visit before the blizzard hit! He even brought his reindeer, which some students spotted outside! Thank you, Newfane PTSA, for making the experience even more exciting by gifting each student with a book!

Superintendent Michael Baumann and two of our esteemed Board trustees, Noah Everett and Santo Tomasine stopped by classrooms to spread Christmas cheer!

We ended our week before break with PJ & Pizza day before our break! What a wonderful week it was!

There were so many creative suggestions for Santa‘s New Reindeer Contest hosted by our Speech-Language Department. Students submitted their ideas for his/her name and special abilities. From magic powers of making ice cream, spreading love and rainbows, wrapping presents and finding the children on the nice list, there were many creative ideas. Thank you for all that participated.

If you child has misplaced or lost any items please visit our Facebook page. Periodically we will take a picture of items that have been lost in hopes of returning them to their proper owner. If you see an item that you believe is your child's please leave a comment on the facebook post or you may contact their teacher through Dojo, or you can call the main office.
