Catching Kids with Character!
Students are recognized for many reasons, but starting this week, we are making a special effort to catch and recognize our students who show CHARACTER! All teachers and staff will be on the lookout for students who demonstrate exemplary character and outstanding personal qualities through their behavior and actions.
One of our biggest tasks as educators is to lead our students to academic achievement. While our teachers work diligently each day to teach your students in school, it's also important that we teach your students how to BE in school. Interactions within our school community play a big part in our campus culture. SGE is spreading the message that character is valued here! We're celebrating courageous students!
Students receiving the certificate will get his/her name announced on the announcements, the award hung in the hallway, and a positive phone call home from the principal!
Academics + Character = Success
Student Handbook Reminders on Illness
-The school nurse is available to answer any questions for parents who are concerned about whether or not their child should stay home.
-A child with a fever over 100 degrees must stay out of school until fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications.
-Students with diarrheal illnesses must stay home until they are diarrhea-free without the use of diarrhea-suppressing medications for 24 hours.
(Students with COVID related illnesses/symptoms should follow COVID procedures defined in the BCISD Return to In-Person Instruction and Continuity of Services document.)
Update to Visitors on Campus!
Visitors to Campus: We are pleased to announce that the district's policy for visitors on campus has been recently updated. Visitors to campus will be limited in the following ways from October 20 - December 1, 2021.
Invited or scheduled visitors may volunteer on campus with activities such as reading to a class, helping in the library, assisting teachers with special classroom projects or activities, or assisting with PTO activities.
Parents of elementary students may walk their child to the classroom door after checking in at the front desk with their ID per normal visitor procedures.
Visitors to elementary and middle school will not be permitted to eat breakfast or lunch in the cafeteria. This will allow the District to continue to monitor case counts and ensure they remain low before lifting this restriction. The campus administration will also spend this time on developing procedures to help address the issues of cafeteria seating capacity for visitors and supply chain challenges for school meals and utensils.
By December 1, BCISD will publish any updates to visitor limitations based upon public health guidance, local health data, and experiences from the first month of school.

Car Line Reminders
We have observed that some cars are driving past the line of cars on CR 200, turning into the fire lane, and then cutting into their lane in front of all of the cars who are following the appropriate car line procedures. Be kind in line!
Other general reminders:
-Help us keep the line moving as quickly and safely as possible by staying in your car, seating your student on the right side of the vehicle, and giving goodbye hugs and kisses before the drop-off line!
