Wisconsin Winter Weather Has Arrived!
The snow and cold is upon us! Recess is an important part of the day so here are a few cold weather reminders:
- If the temperature or wind chill is below zero, students will remain inside for recess.
- Please make sure your child(ren) have snow pants, boots, gloves and a hat every day. Please don't assume we will be indoors on snowy, cold days. If a student does not have snow pants or boots, they will remain on the blacktop during recess. Also, make sure all snow clothes are labeled with your child's name.
4K Families - Invitation to Grinch Night
Wildcat Wellness
We all have big feelings sometimes, even as adults. Over the next several weeks, students at Meadow View will be learning about Emotion Management. Research shows that children who learn these skills will be better learners, build stronger relationships, have higher self-esteem, and be better problem solvers.
Encourage your child(ren) to talk about their emotions, whether happy or sad or angry. Help your child(ren) learn words to describe them. Try using the Zones of Regulation to help them come up with the words or zones to describe their feelings. The whole family can learn more about feelings by playing games and doing activities together and working through any feelings they have during that time.
When kids have big emotions, it can be difficult for them to listen and learn at that moment. Give them some space to calm down. Then, talk about what happened and what they can do differently next time. It’s helpful to talk about feelings when things are calm, so your child can practice how to manage them when things get tough.
Stay well, Wildcats!

How to Talk to Your Child About Addictive Behaviors
Part 2 - For Parents & Students
Presenter: Kevin Polky, CADC, LCSW, Executive Director, Red Oak
This presentation is for parents, caregivers and their child on the risk and impact of addictive behaviors. We are aware of the negative impact of drugs and alcohol on the brain. But, is excessive social media use and gaming safe? We will discuss the similar impact on the brain of addictive substances and behaviors. We will discuss the mental, emotional and physiological effects of these addictive behaviors. We will introduce techniques to prevent and break the patterns of habitual behaviors and develop a healthy lifestyle that includes the use of social media, gaming and other tools for entertainment.
