Not all superheroes wear capes; some substitute teach!!

Miscoe Hill Middle School is seeking substitute teachers who are interested in being part of the educational process for our students. Substitute teachers play an important role in the continuity of educational instruction for our children.

Needed on an as-needed, on call basis.

STARTING DATE: As soon as possible.

SALARY: $95 per day

QUALIFICATIONS: You must submit your application, resume, completed CORI form, and fingerprint results to be considered a candidate.

Miss Holloway is once again leading an expedition to the Andes and Amazon Rainforest for Miscoe Hill students and parents! This incredible travel opportunity sold out (at 80 people!) in less than a week our very first year, and was a phenomenal experience for all travelers!

Highlights of the trip include: standing on the equator, hiking through the Amazon Rainforest, river tubing, a waterfall excursion, visiting an animal rescue center, white water rafting, zip-lining through the jungle, visiting with the indigenous Kichwa people, soaking in thermal hot springs, volunteering at a local school, and SO MUCH MORE!

Students that are currently in the 6th and 7th grade are eligible to attend. We will be traveling over the April 2023 School Vacation. Easy monthly payment plans, fundraising opportunities, and scholarships are available to help make this trip accessible for all!

There will be an informational meeting on Monday, December 20th, at 7:00 PM via Zoom. Families will be able to sign up AFTER the meeting on a first-come, first-served basis. Students will NOT be notified if they are enrolled, so consider giving the gift of travel this holiday season and surprise your child with the adventure of a lifetime!

Dear Students, Parents and Guardians,

We are excited to invite incoming freshmen and their parents/guardians to visit our campus for the annual Nipmuc Showcase. The Nipmuc Showcase highlights how our school’s academics, extracurricular opportunities, and student life are helping students to tap into their curiosities and blaze a trail to their futures. Incoming students and their families will have the chance to connect with our students and teachers to ask questions, tour the facility, and experience first-hand what life and learning look like at Nipmuc.

In order to welcome guests while maintaining COVID-19 protocols, the Nipmuc Showcase will be offered in two separate sessions on February 1, 2022. Please note that registration is required and that masks must be worn.

Session 1: 6pm - 7pm

Session 2: 7pm - 8pm

Miscoe Hill Inspired Innovation Center will be offering a pop-up 3D printing workshop for students and their families on Monday, December 20th from 6:00 - 7:30 PM. You will have the opportunity to design and print a small gift or ornament during the workshop. Seasonal treats will also be provided.

Registration is open for Nipmuc Youth Softball winter clinics and the 2022 spring softball season! Winter clinics are held on Sunday afternoons starting in February, and are a great way to introduce a new player to the sport or get a jump start on the spring season. Attention parents of 8th graders. Please submit a baby picture to miscoeyearbook@mursd.org by January 10th. We typically receive pictures that are from ages 0-5 years old.

eCYBERMISSION is a free national web-based STEM competition open to all students in grades 6-9. Students will work in teams of 3-4 students from Miscoe to identify a problem in their community, solve it following science and engineering principles, and communicate their work online to judges comprised of researchers and engineers working for the Department of Defense (DoD). Teams can identify problems that can be solved through exploring a wide variety of STEM topics (including: Robotics, Programming, Energy, Environment, Food & Fitness, Health & Safety, and many more!). Students will collaborate with their team to perform all of the tasks necessary to complete their Mission Folder, including either developing and conducting an experiment or designing and building a prototype. Each team works with an adult Team Advisor who is there to assist and coach them, but students also have access to an online network of expert DoD researchers and engineers from across the country who are excited to offer virtual help. eCYBERMISSION Club will meet November through February afterschool at Miscoe on Mondays. Initially meetings will run 2:45p - 3:45p, but in December/January we will extend meetings to be 2:45p - 4:15p. Rina Manser (Miscoe Hill Sixth Grade Teacher) and Michael Manser (Mechanical Engineer at the Natick Army Labs) will serve as team advisers for teams.
