PACK Guardians,

It has been a great week at Hubbard filled with VIP badges, Kona, clubs starting up, and some high quality instruction! Please make sure you read ALL the bullet points below and check out the rest of the newsletter so you know what's coming up at Hubbard Middle School!

***PTA Update!***

First PTA meeting: Wednesday, September 13th, 11:30 - 12:30 at Hubbard

6th Grade Social (quickly approaching on Sept. 14th) is looking for volunteers and you can see info on the 6th Grade Social Volunteer SignUp.

Spirit Gear orders will close after Open House this coming Monday, September 11th. If you have not placed an order yet, you can check it out on our Hubbard PTA Square Site.

VIP Badges - Have you heard about the notorious VIP badges? If not, that is where we hand out badges to students who have all A's and B's, no more than two unexcused absences, and no discipline referrals. Those badges provide access to the coveted outside eating area BUT students must have their badge and scan it to get access. Please remind your student to keep their badge with them in their backpack if they want to enjoy this bonus treat!

Progress reports - Student progress report grades have been posted to the online Parent Portal. They will be posted again at 6 weeks and then we will send home paper report cards at the 9 week reporting date. Please get logged in and help us support your Husky!

CLUBS!!! - We want to get your Husky involved in something outside of the regular instructional day! We have lots of clubs starting up including Anime (Sept 19th), Bible Club (this Friday!), Chess Club, Spanish Club (Monday), and a Yearbook club. There are more that are possibly coming up as well! More communication to come with exact club dates, times, and locations.

Classes at Legacy - Do you have a 7th/8th grade male athlete in 1st/5th athletics or a 6th grade male in "pre-athletics" with Coach Dotson? If so, they practice at LEGACY High School each day, not Hubbard. We have had a couple parents come to pick up their children at Hubbard and were not aware of this. Please communicate with your child ahead of time regarding doctor appointments and where they are during that time.

Free and reduced lunch - Please either return your free and reduced lunch form or fill it out online: https://www.mealappnow.com/mantyl/splash.php The rollover deadline from last year is September 27th. After that time, students will not be given free lunch based on last year's qualifications.

Campus texts - If you are not receiving the campus text messages, please text “start” to 98900 to begin getting messages again.

Spirit Gear sales END Tuesday, Sept. 12th! Be sure to check out the Husky hat and Hubbard’s 60th year shirt!! No orders will be taken after Tuesday, Sept. 12th. The goal is to have spirit gear orders ready to distribute mid October. Click or scan the QR code to order!

Congratulations to our Hubbard Huskies Cross Country teams for a great showing Saturday at the Whitehouse Invitational. Emma Feldman earned 2nd place overall and Langley Merrick finished 10th. The boys team of Mason Heller, Drew Wisner, Logan Adams, John Tompkins & Luke Barker took home first place for the second week in a row. Heller finished in 2nd, Wisner 5th & Adams 7th. Great job to all the Huskies who competed on Saturday!

Mrs. Studinka went above and beyond this last week for her Chess club with some good ole COOKIE CAKE!

Students have now taken their diagnostic iReady assessments to determine their learning "pathway." We are tracking student progress, time on task, and their grades to help make sure we are all GROWING together!

Thank you to Mr. Chris Cooper for donating chocolate covered candy apples for ALL staff. We appreciate you supporting Hubbard Middle School!

Shoutout to Ms. Orlowski and Mrs. Davis for providing our 6th grade Huskies with some quality small group instruction and rotations to help meet their educational needs!

Mrs. Lawson's class did a little science experiment this week to see what would happen when crayons are left out in the sun. It made some great colorful designs!

The football games didn't go our way this week, but the Cheer team was there pumping them up!

Below is one of my favorite PACK members named Feron McLemore (kids call him "Mr. Mack"). You can catch him each morning on the 6th grade dropoff crosswalk making sure your Husky is getting safely into school. Not only is Mr. Mack happily married with six kids and two grandkids, he is also a Navy Veteran who served 12 years! He is also an avid reader, chess player, and fisherman. He treats your kids like he would his very own! Give Mr. Mack a shoutout when you see him!

Hubbard Theatre will be having auditions for the upcoming musical, Legally Blonde Jr. on September 11th and September 12th

September 11th - Dance auditions until 5:15pm. (Students will be taught a dance by the Choreographer)

September 12th - Singing auditions until 5:30pm. (Students will have to prepare 30 seconds of a song from Legally Blonde Jr.)

Calling all of our 6th grade future Red Raiders! Please join us for Tyler Legacy Future Red Raider Night sponsored by Whataburger. Come out and support your Tyler Legacy Football team at middle school night. Wear your Red & Black, meet us at 6:35 PM to run through the tunnel and then stay to cheer on our Red Raiders. We are offering free admission to the game for our students with the purchase of a Future Red Raider T-shirt AND a paying adult admission. (Purchase of the shirt is not required to run through the tunnel.) T-shirts may be purchased using THIS LINK.
