End of the USDA free meal program and MyPaymentsPlus discrepancies
Hello GLOBE families,
For the past two years, under the Child Nutrition COVID-19 Waivers, the government approved and issued waivers that allowed all students to eat school meals for free regardless of financial status. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) have announced they will not be extending the free meal program for the 2022-2023 school year, as outlined in our email earlier this school year.
All meals must be served based on the student’s meal status of free, reduced or paid. To determine your child’s eligibility to receive reduced-price or free meals, please complete the School Meals Application.
Thank you to those who reached out to us with concerns about their MyPaymentsPlus accounts being charged. GLOBE has investigated the matter and discovered that our automated system has not been properly processing meals under the current meal prices of $2.50 for full priced breakfast and $3.50 for full priced lunch. Please accept our sincere apology for this oversight and once again, thank you to those who reached out to us.
Going forward, you will begin to see charges coming through MyPaymentsPlus for weekly meals and adjustments to account for breakfast and lunch charges from the first day of school. Please contact us if you see any discrepancies or have any questions.
The GLOBE Academy recognizes proper nutrition is essential for adequate learning to occur and to contribute to healthy eating habits while also working to maintain the financial integrity of the school’s meal program.
