Welcome to our CTS Snapshot - a weekly celebration update. We are delighted to share with parents and carers alike student triumphs at Corby Technical School. We are proud of every student and every success they have - please feel free to share with us any achievements they might have.

County School Challenge Winners 2019
Congratulations to our amazing team who have been crowned this year's winners of the Northamptonshire County Schools Challenge. The theme for this year was educating young people on knife crime.
Educating Young People
The group invented a card game called STALK with each card including important facts about the issue. Special guest at the event was Stuart Lawrence, brother of Stephen Lawrence.
Year 9 Team Work
During tutor time Year 9 students have been looking at team work and Ines, Emma-Tara, Sunny and Tamiska are pictured with the jigsaw they created.
Stars of the Week:
Students:
- Miss Connellan has nominated her Year 7 English students for their excellent and original short stories with morals. Also nominated are Miss Connellan's Year 9 group for their wonderful effort in the mock trial and fantastic delivery.
- Miss Fenner has nominated her Year 8 English students who made some magazines based on the topic of "the great gender debate".
- Mr Godfrey has nominated Year 9 Physics students Carmen, Sam, Klaudia and Wojciech who finished 7th out of 24 schools in the Super Physics tournament run by the Institute of Physics. They were the top state comprehensive and also the highest placed school in Northamptonshire.
- Mr Williamson has nominated the following Media students for their hard work and dedication, Year 9 students Alicia, Gabby and Brady, Year 10 student Katie and Year 12 students Jasmine, Ryan and Danny.
- Mr Harley has nominated Year 8 student Rachel for her excellent CAD and laser work creating a replacement trophy for one of our students.
- Mrs Ferns has nominated Year 8 students Daisy, Gabriella, Reece, Jack, Nathan and Tearlach for helping with the Maths task for Year 6 Transition Day.
- Miss Williams would like to say well done to the Year 8 girls who have been participating in the Dance Club.
Year 8 Residential - Belgium
La Coupole
First stop on the trip was a visit to La Coupole, looking at World War 2 history and astronomy.
Blegny Mine
Students have found a wonderful view at the Blegny Mine, before going into the mine.
Cave Exploring
Year 8 had an amazing time exploring the caves. Glowing reviews of the light show.
Year 9 Residential - Germany
Relaxing in Velbert
After a fantastic day of exploring Essen our students relaxed and made new friends with a group from the Netherlands.
Theme Park
Students had a great time at the Movie Park Theme Park.
Rheinturm
Students had a great day and were excited to climb up the Rheinturm in Dusseldorf.
Attendance Matters
Every single day a student is absent from school equates to a day lost of learning. At Corby Technical School we pride ourselves in maintaining excellent attendance. Our target is to achieve and maintain a whole school attendance of above 96.5%. We will be giving you weekly updates on our whole school attendance, the tutor group and house who achieved the highest attendance this week.
Whole School Attendance
Attendance this week is 94.9%, again slightly below our target.
Tutor Group Winners
Tutor group winners are 7CA with 98.3%, well done to Miss Williams and your tutees.
Best House Attendance
House winners are T house, well done to Telford and Tacke.
Reminders:
- Sports Day is Tuesday 16th July 2019 at 1.00pm and parents/carers are welcome to come along and support the students. Students are permitted to wear their PE kit or a sports top indicating their house colour. There will be a specific area designated for parents that will be separate to the students. Please bring you own chair/picnic blanket for comfort.
- School will close for the Summer break on Friday 19th July and will reopen on Monday 19th August.
