Special Glasses for the Eclipse

The Blanco County Friends of the Night Sky is very excited about the two upcoming eclipses and is pleased to be able to offer eclipse glasses for viewing these events. Your child will be coming home with a pair of these special glasses on Friday, Oct. 13. It is very important that people use these glasses when looking at the eclipse. Looking at the sun without these glasses can cause damage to the eyes and even sunglasses don't provide protection against this damage.

The first eclipse is the Annular Eclipse on Saturday, Oct. 14. We are asking that all families keep these glasses in a safe place so that they can be used again on Monday, April 8 for the Total Eclipse.

Fire Prevention Week Presentation

PK-1st grade students were excited to have the Blanco Fire Department come out to present on Fire Prevention & Safety. The students were able to get an up close view of the equipment that the Fire Department uses on a regular basis, and to find out the importance of each item.

Dr. Behrends Visits With 4th Grade

Our 4th graders had a unique opportunity to have Dr. Christina Behrends, from the Blanco Veterinary Clinic, come talk to them about adaptations in the eyes of animals. This presentation provided a great way to further the understanding of what has been taught in the classroom.
