AVA Family Update
February 16, 2024
Good morning AVA Students and Families,
I have the schedule for when we return from break, our guidance updates, and community notices linked below as usual. I have kept a second notice about mental health supports available to all Attleboro students and residents.
We are headed into vacation, and as always, I highly recommend students who are falling behind use the opportunity to catch up. I will monitor emails to assist students as much as I am able during this time. The end of the trimester will be very close when we return from break.
Thank you for your time.

Second Notice: Mental Health Resources
William James Interface
Any resident of Attleboro or student attending the Attleboro Public Schools (through a guardian) can access the William James College INTERFACE Referral Service. The INTERFACE Helpline helps individuals in subscribing communities become connected with outpatient mental health and wellness resources.
Through the Helpline that operates from 9 AM- 5 PM on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and 8 AM- 6 PM on Tuesday and Thursday, callers will complete an intake which takes about 15-20 minutes and then within a day or so of their call will be assigned to work with a Resource and Referral Counselor who will help them navigate the challenges of finding mental health services, including obtaining a referral match to an outpatient provider, as well as information and resources related to mental health and wellness. Please see What to Expect When You Call the Helpline or visit interface.williamjames.edu for more information.
The INTERFACE Helpline is not an emergency service. If you or the person you are seeking to assist requires a crisis response to meet immediate safety needs, please call 988, 911, go to your local emergency room, or find your local crisis services by calling 833-773-2445 and asking for crisis support.
Guidance Updates
NCAA Registration
Another kind reminder: students and families who are interested in participating in collegiate sports through the NCAA, please register online at the Eligibility Center website (linked HERE) sooner than later. Although you may register even after high school graduation, we strongly recommend doing so while still enrolled in high school to ensure a smoother transfer of school records and information. AVA's CEEB code for NCAA registration is: 220067.

SAT at School Day Signup - Last Call!
AHS plans to host an SAT at School Day on Thursday, April 25th. This is a convenient opportunity for students to take the SAT exam on the AHS campus on a weekday during the school week rather than on a Saturday. Registration for this test will NOT be done through Collegeboard but rather through HERE on this Googleform. All AVA students, especially juniors and seniors, are welcome to sign up. When asked for House #, please select "Not sure". Deadline to complete this form is February 23rd.
Scholarship Googledrive
Kind reminder: Seniors, HERE is the link to the Googledrive containing this year's Attleboro scholarships. You must be logged into your attleborops.net account in order to have viewing access. Most have a deadline of April 1st, but some are earlier like in March. Please rememeber that many scholarships require items like a transcript, resume, letter of recommendation, or essay, so prepare ahead of time and ask for help sooner than later!
FAFSA Priority Deadlines
AVA Seniors and families: the FAFSA priority deadline for many colleges/universities are quickly approaching, so if you plan to complete the FAFSA for 2024-25, please click HERE to check for state priority deadlines as they differ depending on the state. Massachusetts has a state priority deadline of May 1st, 2024. However, depending on the college/uiniversity applied to, their priority deadline may be earlier. For example, the UMasses have priority deadline of March 1st. Thus, please check your schools' deadlines!
As always, please email me at nng@attleboroschools.com with any comments, suggestions, and concerns, or to make a virtual meeting appointment. Have a fantastic February break!
