Principal's Message
I hope everyone had a smooth week back after our Thanksgiving holiday. The coming weeks bring parent teacher conferences and early release days. Following our two weeks of conferences, we will have one week of regular dismissal times. On Friday, December 17th ALL students get dismissed at 11:00 a.m. There will be NO ASES on Friday, December 17. The entire Hueneme campus wishes everyone a safe and restful Winter Break.
As you scroll through this newsletter you will find an opportunity to make a donation to the Ventura County Animal Shelter. The Anchored 4 Life team thanks you in advance for your generous donation.
Also, a big thank you to all the Hueneme families that donated pajamas for the Scholastics Pajama Drive. Our Hueneme Student Council thanks you for the donation! It is an awesome sight to see our student leaders wanting to help people both near and far!
Safety First: Recently, there have been many cars stopping in the middle of the streets to let their children out of the car or for students to get into cars. Please do your very best to find a parking spot. This puts our students and families in danger when they run out into the street. In addition, this also holds up the traffic that are also trying to pick up. If we all do our part, I know we can get to and from school safely! Thank you in advance for your help!
COVID Testing Sites: The hours at the Covid testing sites have changed; however the locations are the same. The news times are 12:00-4:00 daily at both Blackstock and Haycox.
Parent Meetings: Upon returning from winter break, we will be hosting "The Morning Toast" with Ms. Benitez, Mrs. Shallenberger, and Mrs. Martinez. This will be a time for parents to come together outdoors and hear the happenings at Hueneme Elementary. We hope you can join us! Our team will also be hosting another English Language Learner meeting in January. More information to come.
With thanks,
Mrs. Shallenberger
Entering School: For the 2021-2022 school year, we will have BOTH GATES OPEN as in past years. If your child is having breakfast, please have them enter at the back cafeteria gate from 7:40-7:55. Upper grade students can enter that gate as well. Primary students are welcome to enter on the Clara St. gate. Both gates close promptly at 8:00. Late arrivals should report to the office for a tardy slip and temperature scan.
There is NO supervision prior the gate opening. Please do not drop students off earlier than 7:40. Thank you!
Student Symptom Tree: *Update* Please do a passive screening with your child prior to coming to school. If you notice any of the symptoms on the flyer(see link below), your child may not be able to come onto campus. Please call the office if you have any questions.
