Learning In Action
Parts of Speech
After reviewing the different parts of speech as a class, students were given the opportunity to collaborate with each other and create a slideshow as well as a poster OR song with respect to the various parts of speech. The final component of the project was a presentation, where students were required to present their findings to their classmates, who were then given the opportunity to ask pertinent questions. Some groups ultimately chose to perform their song in-class.
Eyeball dissection
After discussing the intricacies of human vision, students had the opportunity to dissect a sheep’s eyeball to discern similarities and differences in relation to a human eyeball. It was a neat way to conclude the Light & Optical Systems Unit.
Snow Carnival
It was a "snowy" Kinder8 celebration at PGMS when Mrs. Kruse-Taylor's L.A. 8 class hosted their MBE kinder buddies on Monday. This fun-filled "Snow Carnival" included building "snow forts", reading winter stories, and playing "snow games" in the atrium. A big thank you to Mr. Leis & Mrs. Martin for bringing the kindergarten students to PGMS. We are already looking forward to our next visit in January 2023!
Outdoor Education
Our Outdoor Education classes had the pleasure to have Ms. Brittany Bush from Backroads Resources visit. She presented to our Grade 7 and 8 classes about her journey from being an Outdoor Education student to her Career in Forestry. She showed students how a passion for the outdoors has translated to a fulfilling career. She talked about the ability to travel, all over Canada and the United States, to her workload and the friends she has made. She shared with our students the education necessary and the institutions within Alberta. She has already many different opportunities throughout her short career and is passionate about sharing with our student community.
Thank You Ms. Bush for sharing with us.
