Halloween and Friendly Reminder about Healthy Snacks
- For those students trick-or-treating Monday, Oak Park hours are 4:00 - 8:00 p.m.
- Everyone please have fun and be safe.
- Please remember that students should bring a healthy snack to go along with their recess time; thank you for not sending candy as a snack
- Also, remember the school is a NUT Safe Zone including in the lunchroom

Thank you for attending our Family Conferences! Please complete this survey to provide District 97 and your school with feedback about your experience at conferences. We will be using this data to reflect and redesign our family conferences to best meet the needs of students and families. If you have multiple children, please complete one survey per child. Please do not include specific teacher names in the survey. If you have specific feedback for teachers, please contact them directly.
Day of the Dead
Celebrating the Day of the Dead, Beye School, together with the other D97 schools, has prepared an altar to honor loved ones who have passed away. You can visit it now till November 3rd from the street, next to the main entrance.

Halloween Details for Monday, October 31 - Lunch/Recess, Parade, Party, etc.
- Lunch/Recess Plan: All students will have lunch/recess from 11:45 - 12:45 (K and 4 will eat and then play; 1 and 5 will play, eat and play again; and 2 and 3 will play and then eat.)
- Homeroom Teachers will bring the students who are being picked up for lunch at 11:45 Monday to the North Blacktop outside the lunchroom. Please be on time for the outside pick up (no need to go to the office)
- When you return the students to school at 12:40, you will need to bring them to the main entrance and sign them in. Thank you.
Halloween Parade Details:
- We will kick off the parade at 1:10 pm (Most likely classes will be lined up outside and then we will begin with Kindergarten, followed by 1,2, 3, 4 and 5)
- The route will be heading east on Erie, south on Harvey, east on Lake, through Heritage House lobby and returning to school following the same route in reverse back to school.
- We will be capturing students on zoom at the beginning of the parade for those of you who want to watch but can't come in person. See zoom link below. Please join ahead of 1:10 pm if possible.

Classroom Parties:
- Halloween parties will be from 1:50 - 2:50 pm in the classrooms. Thank you room parents and volunteers for facilitating these parties. Volunteers do not need background checks as the teachers will be in the rooms. Masks are also no longer required. Please remember no food or drink should be a part of the party, nor should candy be passed out for home.
- Party helpers will need to come to the main entrance and sign in
District News
SAVE THE DATE: Middle School Math Enrichment Program 2023
In 2023, District 97 will be offering Math Enrichment Bridge Courses for Acceleration and Summer Math Review Courses for students in grades 5 through 7. Families should SAVE the DATE if their student is interested in participating in these courses (CLICK HERE to view the program flyer>>).
Registration information and additional details about this program will be shared with families in January.

Halloween Details
Hello Ghouls and Goblins,
Halloween is an exciting time at Beye School and our annual parade is something our community looks forward to each year. We are excited to bring back the tradition of walking outside to the Heritage House for Senior Living on Lake Street, through their lobby and back to Beye. (Exact route will be shared shortly) As we prepare for our Halloween celebration in the coming weeks we want to make you aware of a few things.
Please remember when planning costumes for school:
no weapons (knives, guns, etc) or portrayals of violence; no blood-like paint
no culturally offensive or insensitive costumes (See District Halloween Letter below that has been in the Bobcat Blog the last few weeks)
no Halloween costume masks worn at school
Schedule Monday, October 31
- We want to emphasize learning in the morning so costumes are for the afternoon only
- Students may stay at school for lunch/recess and change into their costume afterwards or they may be picked up and go home for lunch and change into their costume before returning to school (see permission slip below)
- All students will have lunch/recess from 11:45 - 12:45 (K and 4 will eat and then play; 1 and 5 will play, eat and play again; and 2 and 3 will play and then eat.)
- Families who are picking up their students at 11:45 will pick them up outside on the north side of the school on the blacktop (more details will be forthcoming)
- Students may change into their costumes at 12:45
- The all school parade will begin at 1:10 with K leading us off, followed by 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.
- Exact parade route will be shared shortly
- We will walk to the Heritage House senior living center on Lake street, through the lobby, and back to Beye
- The parade will capture the students on zoom for those wishing to watch from home (zoom link shared soon)
- We hope many families can also view in person along the parade route
- Class parties are back! Following the parade, from approximately 1:50 - 2:50 room parents and other volunteers will lead the class in a variety of activities.
- NO food or drink is permitted as part of the parties per the district's policy
- Additionally, students should not bring candy to pass out to classmates
- Kindergarten and first grade students will be arriving back to school first so those parties might be starting a little earlier
- Parents who are helping with the parties will need to sign in outside the office and wear a visitor badge.
In case of inclement weather, the parade will be moved indoors and communication will be made to families via email by 12:30 pm that day.

BRAVO Performing Arts at Brooks Middle School presents Raise Your Voice on November 3 & 4. Raise Your Voice is a new musical revue featuring songs from 15 different musicals across MTI's Broadway Junior® collection. Classic titles featured include Guys and Dolls and Oliver! to beloved Disney shows like The Little Mermaid and Mary Poppins and heartwarming contemporary stories like Once on This Island and 13!
Familiar songs, heartwarming selections and inspiring production numbers include "Right Before Your Eyes" from James and the Giant Peach JR.; "The Spark of Creation" from Children of Eden JR., "Matchmaker" from Fiddler on the Roof JR and "So Much Better" from Legally Blonde JR. "Agony" from Into the Woods JR., "Good Morning" from Singin' in the Rain JR., "These Palace Walls" from Disney's Aladdin JR. and so many more!
Raise Your Voice will have audiences singing along and entertained from start to finish with show stopping numbers and heartwarming moments.
