This Week At SHOJ
Jan. 8, 2021
From Mrs. Rhodes
Happy New Year! We hope that you all enjoyed a restful break. As we start a new year, we often make resolutions. This week has flown by as we start a new semester and put some classroom resolutions in place. With all that is going on in our world, I hope that family resolutions involve relying on God more, helping each other get to heaven, and following the golden rule. These are things that we all need right now. I have been challenging my family to consider the Holy Family School of Faith Daily Rosary podcast at schooloffaith.com. It will bring you hope, joy and peace. If you don't know where to start, this is a great thing to try.
Grade cards were sent home with the children today - please ask to see them.
We are excited to have our accreditation visit next week - it is all virtual. I am disappointed the they won't see how great SHOJ is by observing classes and getting a feel for the culture. Thanks to those who have been praying for this. I look forward to sharing their insight as we get it. Thanks for all you do to support our school. SHOJ is blessed to have the best staff, students, family and parish.
Catholic Schools Week
We are planning on having as much fun celebrating SHOJ as we have in the past - there will be carnival and we need your help. Please see the attached flier for the donation requests. It will be a blast!
From the Entire Staff
Thank you so much for the generous donations to the teacher's Christmas fund. It was very generous and so kind of you!
Welcome Mason George Lyons
We congratulate Mrs. Lyons and her entire family as they welcomed Mason on Dec. 29. Another picture below.

8th Grade Project to Do GOOD!
With your support the 8th grade project to help support Catholic Charities' Refugees was a huge success. What a kind gesture of Advent giving. See the video below. God bless you.

Please enjoy this FINAL one minute video of the Class of 2021 as they give thanks to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and School community.
Catholic Charities featured the Class of 2021 yesterday in their Newsletter. Please click the link below and scroll down to see the message from Catholic Charities about this group of students.
In the video above, there is a picture of the Class of 2021. When Catholic Charities wanted a picture of this class for their Newsletter, we did not have one so I ran down the hall at lunch and snapped a few random pictures of them. Understandably because of Covid, we have not really gathered for group pics. Finally, their first class picture was taken yesterday as they loaded and overloaded the Catholic Charities van (notice all the boxes in the pic in the video that didn't fit in the big white van). Their first class picture was taken as they celebrated serving Him. That's good stuff.
God Bless You!

Entries Due Jan. 22 Kindest Kansas Citian
For over 31 years, students in Kansas City have nominated the kindest people they know for the Kindest Kansas Citian Contest. This year Sacred Heart of Jesus will be participating in the 2021 Kindest Kansas Citian Contest. The Kindest Kansas Citian Contest is an awesome way to recognize the kind and caring ways of someone else by giving back that love and care in this special way. Read the attachment below for more information.
