A Message from Dr. Hicks
Hello Cougar Nation,
As we near the end of the school year, we have many reasons to count our blessings.
Most notably, the community-wide effort to help each other during last week's storm.
In Jarrell, more than twenty homes and four businesses were severely damaged and our neighbors in Granger were also impacted leaving many families in need.
Immediately on Monday evening we put out the call for donations to help our neighbors in Granger and Jarrell. It was inspiring to see how many of you jumped into action donating water, sleeping bags, food, toiletries, and more. Our Jarrell ISD team worked until the late hours with our local Jarrell Police Department to transport the items to Granger that night. They weathered heavy rain and wind to provide support to those who needed it.
During the week, we called our families, checked on their well being and delivered supplies to our Jarrell families. This past Friday, the district teamed up with the city, county, and organizations to help clean up damage in Jarrell. We had more than 80 volunteers clean up nine tons of debris. It's impressive and heartwarming to see how much help everyone provided.
This type of weather is difficult for many reasons, but you all rose to the occasion. That's what being a community is all about. Helping each other is a core principle of The Jarrell Way. You are what makes this community great!
Your proud superintendent,
Toni Hicks, Ed.D.
