Student Council
Student council is up and running at Briarwood. Each week the students collect the paper to be recycled in the building, This is also the second year that student council will participate in the Trex-Meijer plastic bag recycling campaign. The students create posters and and advertise the benefit of recycling plastic bags.Sports Clinic
The gym at Briarwood is often empty after school. Recently, that has changed with the help of the WWT Softball Team. Every Monday, approximately 12 students from Briarwood have been part of a softball/baseball sports clinic. The clinic is focused on teaching the students the foundation skills to play ball. We are grateful the coordination of efforts of Criag Cutshaw, Lance Sell, and the members of the WWT Softball team to make this free clinic happen for our students. In addition to giving students an opportunity to be physically active, data will also be reviewed to see if offering the after school event, has improved attendance for the participants.

Westwood Update
Family Engagement: October ended with so many fantastic events! Westwood hosted our first Title I Family Engagement event of the school year. Warren Woods families and staff were invited to a catered dinner followed by "Spooktacular" events provided by the Cranbrook Science Center. A special thank you to all staff who volunteered their time. The smiles on our students' faces....PRICELESS!
Color Run: Our PTO hosted our first Color Run, which took place at the Admin Building on Saturday, October 19th. Students, families, and staff participated in this event. We are proud of our Westwood Wildcats who raised over $7000. Funds will go toward support of our student activities and assemblies throughout the year.
Trunk or Treat: Our Trunk or Treat was a huge success. We were impressed with our turnout. Over 500 people participated in this annual event. Students were able to grab some yummy treats, enjoy cider & donuts, and dance the night away. A special thanks to the Warren City Cert Team for assisting us with this event.
PLC Reboot: On November 5th, Westwood hosted our Elementary Professional Development Day. It was exciting to have face to face time with all of our elementary teams. Staff enjoyed a catered lunch, followed by a presentation from the elementary Admin team. Grade Level Teams spent time revisiting the PLC process, tight/loose expectations, and recommitting to a shared purpose of their team. We are energized and ready to move forward as a team!
