Welcome Parents and Families
Greetings parents, grandparents, and all families!
It's been a great first few days of school. Students are getting back into the groove of things. Classes are running smoothly, lunches are going great, and teachers are establishing all their classroom routines. We thank you for your support and encouragement as we get things going.
In this newsletter, you'll find important information about the upcoming change in our weekly schedule. Starting 01 Sep 2023, we will begin alternating our Fridays with early release and no school for students. These days are essential for teachers to complete required trainings and stay up to date with lesson planning.
Arrival Guidelines
Morning Drop Off 7:00am-7:50 am
Morning drop off has been splendid. It's exciting to great parents and welcome families each morning. As you have probably noticed, our Student Safety Patrol is taking shape. It's a big responsibility for these students to open car doors, greet their peers and assist those with bulky packages. Thank you for your support in following their hand gestures and bearing with them as they learn the process.
Just a reminder that starting Monday August 21, 2023, all parents walking their students into the school will need to remain in the front foyer area of the school. Thank you for supporting our efforts to maintain a safe and secure campus environment. If you need to drop off any large items, birthday treats, or classroom snacks, our student safety patrol is on hand to assist you.
As you probably noticed, we were blessed with the gift of a new crosswalk and signs. Our school was selected by the Victoria County Health Department to install these safety measures at our school. Please see the ribbon cutting photos and video below.
Dismissal Notes
Afternoon Pick Up 3:32 pm
The car line pick up process has been running like a well oiled machine. Car cards have been distributed to all parents. If you need additional car cards for other family members on your authorized pick up list, please email Mr. Frisch at: carl.frisch@bisd-tx.org He will print cards a few times a week as requests are received. It's best to request your additional cards early, just in case any emergencies arise.
If you need to make transportation changes, please call the office prior to 1:00 pm. The afternoon schedules and a routines can get really busy and the office ladies can get a little overwhelmed with phone calls. When you call before 1:00 pm, they have time to efficiently and effectively communicate your needs to the classroom teacher.
School Lunch
Parents are permitted to eat lunch with their students. You will need your driver's license to check in and receive clearance. After signing in at the front office, parents may proceed to the cafeteria where a designated table has been set up for families to eat together. Student lunch times are 30 minutes long and class schedules are:
10:30--Second Grade
11:05--Fourth Grade
11:40--Third Grade
12:15--Fifth Grade
For security reasons, and because the morning routines are very fast paced, parents are not permitted to eat breakfast in the cafeteria.
Fall Picture Day 2023
Fall Pictures are on September 14, 2023. Photos start at 8:00 am
Starting Friday, September 01, 2023 Bloomington ISD will start an alternating pattern of no school for students on Fridays and Early Release Fridays. Here is the calendar!
Birthdays
Parents are allowed to bring treats to the class for a student's birthday. You can drop these items off at the front office anytime of day. The office will deliver items to the classroom during break times so that learning schedules are uninterrupted.
Teachers will ensure that treats and drinks are distributed to all students at the end of the day. This is typically around 2:30 or 2:45 pm.
Book Fair
We have our first book fair of the year scheduled for the week of September 11, 2023. Here is a link to our book fair website: https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/bloomingtonelementaryschool1
