Please note, if you applied your student in DeKalb County’s School Choice lottery, and if they earned a seat in a different school, DCSD will automatically pull their enrollment from GLOBE. If you do not wish to have your child pulled to the awarded School Choice school, you will need to notify GLOBE’s registrar via email.
Upper Campus chess team competes at K-8 State Team Championship
Our previous newsletter included an article about the Lower Campus chess team's success at the K-8 Georgia State Chess Tournament. GLOBE would also like to acknowledge our Upper Campus team, consisting of team members Holland Fagan, Josiah Lee, Benjamin Cottrell, Rohan Kandiah and Austin Davis, who also competed at the event.
At this middle school level, many of the opposing players already have considerable experience. Our UC team performed admirably, and while our players were not in the winner’s circle, being there, giving their best and representing the school was an important accomplishment and we are extremely proud of them!
Congratulations to everyone on the team and thank you to everyone involved in supporting these fine chess players. The future of both our LC and UC chess teams is looking very bright.

May is AAPI Heritage Month
The month of May is Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month. This year our GLOBE community have the opportunity to help create posters that will be put on display at both campuses.
It’s a fun way to learn about AAPI figures, events, and contributions, and it’s a creative activity that you can enjoy with your children. Don’t worry if you’re not familiar with AAPI communities, we provide the guidelines and content for you. All you have to provide is your creativity.
Posters are due by April 27. Follow this Sign-Up Genius link for more information and to choose the poster you would like to create!

COVID Communiqué
The latest COVID Communiqué, volume 12, can be viewed here.
Weekly COVID-19 testing
Viral Solutions will be back on campus again on Thursday, April 14, to provide all GLOBE students and staff with access to free rapid antigen testing. The positivity rates of each testing clinic can be found on tab 2 of the Data Dashboard. Results will be updated the day after each testing clinic occurs. If you would like to enroll your student in testing for the semester, you can fill out the consent form here. If you have questions about the testing process or how to receive your student's results, please read the FAQ flyer.
Vaccination survey
We would like to determine how many of our students are fully vaccinated. Understanding the vaccination coverage in our community will help us to make informed decisions about sporting events and meal time locations. To learn more and/or to notify us, click here.
Updated mask policy
On March 7, 2022, The GLOBE Academy updated its mask policy for all students. The full policy can be reviewed here. Although masks are not required for entry into the school building, if your child is showing signs and symptoms of COVID-19, please seek a negative COVID-19 test (rapid at-home or rapid/PCR at a testing location) before sending them back to school. Please also have them wear a mask at school until their symptoms improve.
