This Week in Religious Education
What is happening for children, youth, and families at OUUC
Please join us at 11:00 this Sunday for the Children's Annual Meeting!
This is our annual practice of democratic processes. The kids will be deciding and voting upon real things of concern to them:
1) What their Spring Service Project will be
2) What the Summer RE program will be
3) Where they will donate the money they raise in the Children's Offering next year
This is a really important Sunday for the kids, so I hope to see you all there this Sunday. :)

Coronavirus Preparedness
As we seek to take care of ourselves and each other, please note that we may need to stay flexible.
We are encouraging everyone to stay home if they are feeling any symptoms. That includes volunteer teachers and OUUC Staff.
- If a teacher is absent, we may have to combine or cancel classes. If Nursery staff are absent, we may have to cancel nursery care.
- If the Director of Religious Education is absent due to illness, there will be a back-up lesson plan that can be implemented in their absence, but it will be a simpler lesson and may involve combined age groups.
- If there are many cases of illness in our community, we may cancel events and meals, or even a Sunday service all together. We will develop plans for streaming and online gatherings as an option if in-person gatherings are canceled.
What you can do:
- Stay home if you or your child is sick
- Educate and reassure your kids about the virus. There is a helpful comic that has been developed.
- Remember that social distancing isn't the same as isolation. A helpful reflection on ways to take care of yourself and others is here.
- Wash your hands and teach your kids the importance of washing theirs.
- Watch our communication on emails, and be prepared to be flexible.
Online Soul Matters and Soul Matters for Parents
Stay connected even when you can't make it in to OUUC in person! Reflect on the theme of the month from the comfort of your home (and your jammies if you want).
I will be offering a Drop In Soul Matters circle online on the 2nd Thursday of each month and a Soul Matters for Parents online on the 4th Monday of each month. We will use the Zoom platform, which allows us to see and hear and interact with one another.
March's Theme is Wisdom, April's Theme is Liberation. To receive a theme packet digitally ahead of the meeting, just email me at dre@ouuc.org

This Month's Theme is Wisdom
This month the theme is “Wisdom", a great opportunity to talk with kids about the difference between knowledge and wisdom. We will explore this theme in many ways here at OUUC this month, and you can at home as well! Read more here.
Feedback Sought About Children and the Offering
In a recent meeting with families, we heard a desire to have the children participate in the ritual of the Offering. We would love to hear more feedback on whether families would like their children to be in worship longer and have the offering before they exit for class.
Please take a few minutes to fill out our short survey.
Time to Register Now if You Have Not Already!
Our new year of classes begin this Sunday! It's going to be a great year, and one way to make it even better … knowing who will be coming!
