Have you ever asked your student how his/her day was and you get one word answers? Use these questions to ask specific questions about the week and get him/her talking!

• Social Studies 7 - What is a Civil War term used to describe PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder)? Explain the meaning.
• Social Studies 6 - Q: What is a contribution of the Renaissance?

  A: Examples: Art (Mona Lisa), Science (Galileo), Literature (William Shakespeare)

• Acc. Math 7 - What's the difference between a representative & a biased sample? Explain which one is best to use.
• Science 6 - What are the biological levels of organization from least complex to most complex?
• Science 7 - How do convection currents move tectonic plates?
• ELA 6 - What's an appositive?

• ELA 7 - What are 3 test taking tips for the reading portion of the ACTAspire test?

• ADV ELA 7 - How did the rhetorical techniques of MLK and Malcolm X differ? Why do you think they differed?

• Math 6 - What's the difference between area and perimeter?

• Math 7 - How can you solve a percent problem using proportional relationships?

• Keycode - Ask your child to share your best coding project from scratch.

• Art 6 - What is the theme you are using for your two point perspective drawing?

• Adv. Art - Tell me about your current project? What’s going well? What are you struggling with?

• Band - What did you like about the field trip to see the symphony orchestra?

  When is your band concert? (May 8th at 6:30pm - Har-Ber PAC)

• Language Lab - What is the difference between coordinate and cumulative adjectives?

The HMS Band went on a field trip to the Walton Arts Center to see a professional symphony orchestra (SONA), who included lesson on "theme" with an hour performance of music from Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, Spiderman, Undertales, Beethoven's Symphony No. 5, Rossini's William Tell Overture, and many more wonderful pieces.

This was a great opportunity to connect musical themes to what students are reading and writing in their ELA classes.

Special thanks to our students for wonderful behavior, our incredible parent chaperones, and our band directors from Hellstern and Central Jr. High, who made this event possible.

As we enter into our last week of track before Conference it is important that athletes

communicate with Coaches events they would like to be involved in at Conference on 4/17

and 4/19. We will be taking the best times, heights and distances. We are only able to have 3

athletes and 1 relay team participate for each event (7TH AND 8TH ARE COMBINED).

● Monday 4/10 - 7th/8th grade meet at Har-Ber High Schools (HBHS). Meet starts at 3:30.

Students will be dismissed after 5th period (CJHS) and 6th period (HMS). If you kept your

uniform please make sure to bring it. Make sure you bring water, a snack or money for the

concession stand.

● Tuesday 4/11- Practice after school until 4:30 (HMS) and 5:30 (CJHS) (Potential 9th grade

meet Rogers)

● Wednesday 4/12 - NO PRACTICE

● Thursday 4/13 - Practice after school until 4:30 (HMS) and 5:30 (CJHS)

● Friday 4/14 - PRACTICE 8th grade only till 5:00
