Phase III schedule - Important information
Announcements & Updates
- The Mountain View Parent Council serves on a volunteer basis, working with Ms. Toth (Principal) with the primary objective to foster dialogue and communication on school-wide topics between the parent community and the School Administration. This team works on behalf of all parents to discuss educational and administrative matters that are of importance to all. The Council has two parent representatives per grade level and meets once every month. Please connect with your members of the Parent Council regularly to hear their views and keep them informed of any issues/concerns you may have. The minutes of meetings will be posted on the School website regularly. Below are you grade level representatives for the 2020-2021 school year:
- 5th Grade: Suzy Markwick, Trish Hutchinson
- 6th Grade: Tina Chawla, Tiffany Jurist-Baus
- 7th Grade: Lisa Merklinger, Kelly Gillard
- 8th Grade: Rebecca Braun, Kyle Schickner
- Attention Harvest Hustlers -- registration is now open for the 12th Annual Harvest Hustle 5K and Kids Fun Run -- it’s VIRTUALLY the best race of 2020! Please visit (https://runsignup.com/Race/NJ/Mendham/MendhamHarvestHustle) to register for this virtual event. Registration is open until October 31, and runners can input their race times at any point during the month of October. All finishers will receive a commemorative 12th Annual Harvest Hustle face mask the week of November 2nd.
Highlights for 2020's virtual Harvest Hustle include:
- Friends and family can join from anywhere which makes this more of a shared experience;
- It’s schedule/location flexible -- the timing and course that you run is based on your schedule and whatever is best for you;
- THERE ARE DO-OVERS – if you run the race distance and are not happy with your time, run it again and re-submit the new time.
While the race itself will be different this year, our goal of raising money for the Mendham Borough HSA remains the same and so we are maintaining our registration fee from previous years. If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact Race Director Steve McLaud (smclaud@verizon.net).
Update from Mrs. Lanka
Today in Advisory, students completed their "Getting to Know Me" poster designs. Afterwards, they participated in a gallery walk to view each others' posters and determine what they have in common / what makes their group unique, or engaged in a "gameshow" Q&A to see who could remember the most about their classmates (i.e., favorite foods/hobbies, goals for the year, etc.) Engaging in these activities allows students to continue to build rapport with one another and practice important social skills - both virtually and in-person - which leads to deeper and more meaningful relationships with others.
As we all embrace this new school year with its many changes, flexibility is key. Remind your child (and yourself as needed :) that using positive self-talk helps us cope with anxiety and brings us back to a feeling of calm.
