Science Fair is Here!

Students' Science Fair projects will be proudly displayed in the Mills library beginning today and will stay there through 5pm Tuesday, Jan 24th. Please come by Tuesday afternoon and check out the amazing projects our Mountain Lions have worked hard on throughout January!

Holocaust Remembrance Week is Jan 23 - Jan 27

SB 1828 was passed in 2019 in acknowledgement of the Holocaust’s ongoing significance. SB1828 calls for each district to determine age-appropriate instruction for students on the Holocaust. Holocaust Remembrance Week is January 23-January 27, 2023.

5th and 6th grade students in Austin ISD will participate in Willesden READS as part of the district’s observation of Holocaust Remembrance Week.

5th Grade families, your teachers will be sharing more information in their weekly communication.

Mills Around the World - We Need You!

Mills Around the World is set for Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023! The Mills PTA is bringing back this treasured event. Please consider signing up to represent a country/culture or nation that is meaningful to your family. Presentations, music, performances, and food sampling are just a few of the fun experiences during this special day. There will also be a special performance by our 4th Grade Choir!

A Message from Our Librarian- Bluebonnet Books

From Ms. Rasmussen:

The Texas Bluebonnet Award Program is a state-wide program for students in grades 3-6. Texas Librarians nominate 20 new books each year from different genres to be on the Bluebonnet list. Its purpose is to promote free-choice reading and expose students to a variety of quality literature.

Every year students in 3rd through 5th grades all across the state vote on their favorite Bluebonnet Book.

Any student who has read 5 or more Bluebonnet Books may vote. This is run entirely on the honor system and there is nothing students have to turn in to prove they've read five books. The book that receives the most student votes will be named the 2022-2023 Bluebonnet Award winner.

Below is a direct link to the Texas Library Association's digital voting form. Voting begins now through Feb. 10th. This is a great way to generate more interest in the Bluebonnet program and hopefully encourage more students to read these amazing books.
