2023-2024 Student Calendar of Events
The link below provides a student calendar of events for the 2023-2024 school year. The calendar informs everyone of dates for school activities, progress reports and report cards, breaks, and celebrations. Please check this calendar out to keep up to date with what's going on at SCES.
Traffic Flow for the First 3 Days of School
In an effort to decrease the disruption of traffic on the first few mornings with parents walking students to class, all parents will enter the gravel entrance near the Dollar Store and exit at the northermost exit near the first grade building. All parents walking students to class, will park in the grass near the football field or gym.
Technology Fee and Agreement
Accidental Damage Protection Plan
The Seminole County School System provides an Accidental Damage Protection Plan for a fee of $25 per year. Paying the student technology fee each school year enrolls students in accidental damage protection. This plan includes drops, cracks, normal wear and tear, and. hardware failure.
Repair/Replacement Costs
Students will be held responsible for any damages not covered in the accidental damage protection plan including lost/stolen devices, intentional damage, picked off keys, damage to ports, broken screens and charging cables.

Broken Keys: $6 per key
Broken Touch Screen: $110
Broken Keyboard/Trackpad: $75
Broken Chromebook Replacement: $350
Broken Charger Replacement: $25

SCES would like to welcome their new staff members for the 23-24 school year.

Beginning of the Year Assessments
SCES will begin the school year with a few assessments to get the needed data to identify academic levels for all of our students. All students will be given the Acadience and MAP screeners beginning on Monday, August 7th. This year, K-5 students will also be given the i-Ready diagnostic test to provide math data for our students. This test will begin on August 14th. The schedule for these assessments are listed below:

i-Ready Math Curriculum
Our K-5 students will have i-Ready as their new curriculum this school year. Your teachers will provide you a newsletter each week to inform you of the standards that will be taught that week and provide examples of problems associated with those standards. Be on the lookout for these newsletters.
Clubs for 23-24
Miss Paige Miller is finalizing the Club Schedule for 2023-2024 school year. All students will preview clubs on August 10 and 24 and make their club choices on August 25. Beginning in September, all students will meet twice a month in the clubs of their choice.
Boy/Girl Scouts
SCES will host local Scout Masters at SCES on August 16th to provide all students with information concering Boy and Girl Scouts. On August 17th, local Scout Masters invite all parents to the SCES lunchroom at 6:00 to hear more about scout opportunities and to sign up for local scout troops.
Attendance Protocol
Seminole County School System Attendance Policy & Procedure:
Upon enrollment Parents/Guardians receive State Compulsory Law and County Attendance Policy
1-3 Unexcused absences parent and student contact made by teacher(s)
4 Unexcused absences parent & student contact made by principal designee(s)
5 Unexcused absences parent contact via letter
6 Unexcused absences parent contact via home visit from school social worker
7 Unexcused absences Attendance Support Team meets and creates an attendance contract. A certified letter is mailed to the parents/guardians requesting a meeting to discuss and sign the contract.
8+ Unexcused absences which breaks attendance contract; parent contact via home visit from the school social worker with a recommendation for referral to law enforcement and complaint filed with the court system.
Further unexcused absences will result in continued referral to law enforcement
The full attendance protocol is attached below. Please be mindful of the number of days your students miss. If no action is taken after an absence, it will be classified as an unexcused absence.
SCES Disipline Expectations/Consequences
The behavior expectations, behavior matrix, and discipline categories listed below apply to all students who attend school at Seminole County Elementary School. Aligning with the Seminole County School District’s mission of Learning Today, Succeeding Tomorrow, SCES administration and staff believe students should behave in ways that meet or exceed the behavior expectations of each school setting. By teaching and modeling positive behaviors appropriate to a variety of school settings, students have ample opportunity to learn appropriate means of behavior at SCES. Failure to do so will result in consequences linked below.
