SUPERINTENDENT CORNER

Dear Lester Prairie School District staff and families,

February is Minnesota School Board Recognition Month. The Lester Prairie School

District is joining school districts throughout the state to celebrate and honor our School Board members.

Lester Prairie School Board Members include Corbey Hentges (Chair), Brian Heimerl (Vice Chair), Meganne Stifter-Knoll (Clerk), Rebecca Heimerl (Treasurer), Keith Christen (Director), and Jeff Engen (Director). These elected individuals oversee the multimillion dollar district budget that funds our education programs. They are responsible for formulating school district policy, approving curriculum, maintaining school facilities, and adhering to state and federal education law. In addition to their board meetings and committee meetings, they spend many hours on board training and personal study to enhance their understanding of legal concerns and the complexities of school finance.

Our deepest appreciation is extended to our dedicated School Board Members for the important work they do and the commitment they have to their civic roles. Collaborating as a team and collaborating with school district staff, their governance and advocacy are building the future of education both locally in Lester Prairie and statewide in Minnesota. Please join me by saying thank you to Corbey, Brian, Meganne, Rebecca, Keith, and Jeff!

ACTIVITIES UPDATES FROM MS. WOLFF:

Wrestling Team Section 2AA tournament is February 16 at St. Peter and February 18 New Prague. Wrestling Individual Section Tournament is February 25. Good luck to our Wrestlers at these events! The Section 2A Tournament for Girls Basketball starts on February 23 and for Boys Basketball on March 3. Good luck teams!

Spring activities start soon for 7-12th graders. All participants must be registered online with current sports physical and payment due before the first practice. Team meetings will be held in early March.

The first session of Driver Education starts February 27. More information on our Community Ed page. Registration forms available in the school main entrance.

The Spring/Summer 2023 Community Ed brochure will be arriving in mailboxes soon! Check out our offerings for all age groups!

A NOTE FROM NURSE JOY:

McLeod County Public Health will be offering vaccine clinics for all types of immunizations.

They have multiple dates and times available(usually on Tuesdays and Thursdays).

Please use the link below if your child is due and/or needs to catch up on their immunizations.
