Will Harris was born and raised in Mineral Point, Wisconsin, where he graduated from high school in 1998. He attended his mother's alma mater, The University of Arizona, in Tucson, where he attained degrees in History and Spanish Literature in 2002. Will worked for the Arizona State Legislature for three years and then earned a Masters in Business Administration with a focus on Entrepreneurship in 2006, also from the University of Arizona. He was awarded the Rotary World Peace Fellowship in 2008 and completed a Masters of Arts in International Relations with a focus on Economic Development in 2010. For the last 17 years, Will has helped start or improve over thirty small businesses in the United States, including a chain of yoga studios in Madison, Wisconsin. In 2014, Will joined the board of directors of Working Capital for Community Needs (WCCN), a non-profit located in Madison, Wisconsin that funds credit unions and financial cooperatives in Central and South America for the purpose of offering credit to the poorest people in the hemisphere, to help them work out of poverty. In 2018, Will became the Executive Director of the organization, and helped it recover from a near collapse. Today, WCCN is an internationally recognized development fund that has been garnering attention for its mission, and is poised to grow dramatically in the next few years. Through his work, Will is able to speak Spanish on a daily basis, and travel extensively in Central and South America. Will has also learned Portuguese as his wife is a native of Brazil. In 2015, Will and his wife Iza purchased their family farm in Mineral Point, and have been working to make it their own. They have horses, beef cattle, chickens, a vineyard and a garden. The couple have two children, Henry (almost 7), Evelyn (4 and 1/2), and a baby due in June. Will serves on the Mineral Point School Board, teaches a Saturday morning yoga class at the High Barre, plays basketball with a group of adults in Mineral Point twice a week, and enjoys winemaking, reading, travel, and hanging out with friends.
