This week is National School Counseling Week and we couldn't be more thankful to have Ms. Lynn Stover as our school counselor. Ms. Stover goes above and beyond her job description always breathing life into our students. She is a source of hope and inspiration to our students and their families. She is a kind, caring colleague and the glue that holds East Fallowfield together. Our 100th day of school is set for today, Monday, February 6th! To celebrate this year, we are encouraging students and teachers to create a t-shirt that displays 100 things/items. We can't wait to see everyone's t-shirt designs today!

Attention 4th and 5th grade students!! Our East Fallowfield Reading Olympics Team is up and running!! If you are interested in joining our school team, please return your permission slip to Mrs. DiSands. This month, East Fallowfield is celebrating their love of reading. Reading calendars were sent home last week. We hope you join us in this family fun reading activity. Please send photos via email to Mrs. Willis at willism@casdschools.org. We'd love to share them out on our Twitter page! The calendars are below in English and Spanish for your reference.

This week in STEM club, we kicked off Black History Month by reading the story Martin’s Big Words by Mareen Rappaport. Students got to pick a word that represents what Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. stood for.

The challenge was for them to use graph paper to write a word. Each letter of the word must be made up of complete boxes ( for more of a challenge students could use half of a box)!

These works of art will be displayed on the STEM door for our school wide door decorating competition!

Mrs. Billman would like to shout out these 5th grade students: Allison Smith, Luke Ramsay, Eli Matukaitis, Zamaya Jones, (and Brandon Butler not pictured) have been working so hard on our school hydroponic garden. The students have been planting the seeds, watering them, checking the garden's pH and nutrients levels in the garden. They will continue to take care of the garden and the plants until they are ready for harvest in about 3-4 weeks! We are so proud of their dedication!

This week, Mrs. Czibik and her students played a game called "Shake and Spill." Students have 10 counters with red or yellow sides. They "shake" their counters in the cup and "spill" them on the table. Next, they use their red and yellow crayons to model their math sentence. This helps with their 1:1 correspondence, writing math equations, and working on addends to 10. Students love this game and always do such a great job! Keep up the great work!

Each Friday on the morning announcements, we have our Eagle Eye Ticket Drawing to celebrate good bus behavior. The prizes vary from week to week and this week's prize was a Coatesville Red Raider basketball. Thank you to Mr. Chenger for the donation of giveaways for our students! Congratulations to last week's winners. Keep SOARing!

It's time to order your yearbooks! Our online ordering is available and we will be sending out paper order forms when we receive them from the company.

Our next PTO meeting will be Wednesday, February 8 at 7:00 pm. This meeting will be held virtually on Zoom.

Due to the snow day on Thursday, December 15, 2022, Coatesville Area School District will be utilizing its first snow makeup day. The district will be in session for students and staff on February 17, 2023. We will not be adjusting any end of marking period or trimester dates and grade reporting will remain as scheduled.

This year at East Fallowfield we are revamping our PBIS program and focusing on our Big East Expectations of Safety, Ownership, Acceptance and Respect. Last week, students had the opportunity to learn what these expectations look like, sound like, and feel like in different areas around the school including the classroom, cafeteria, playground, bus, hallway, and bathrooms.

Students are so excited to be rewarded for meeting these expectations with Class Dojo points. Parents please be sure to accept the Class Dojo invite from your child's teacher so you can track the great work they are doing in class.
