Disney's Finding Nemo, Jr.
Congratulations to the cast and crew of Finding Nemo, Jr. on three fantastic performances at the Historic Palace Theatre! The cast was made up of 53 students in grade 4 through grade 8. These young students took the stage by storm with confidence and made us all believe in we were in the Sydney Harbor.
A very special thank you to the talented Director, Ms. Maddy Long, DCS ‘14 and our wonderful Musical Director, Mrs. Jackie Davis. With their expertise and passion, they helped create a Broadway style performance our students could be proud of.
Thank you to Mrs. Kerri Zimmerman for custom making 94 beautiful costumes and working with students to create 45 turtle shells.
Thank you to Brianna Gelnet, Andrew Harrer and April Biamonte for capturing these incredible photos for us.
Thank you to our friends at the Historic Palace Theatre for sharing their stage with us.
Lastly, thank you to our friends at the Remember Ryan Foundation for the grant that helped us provide an exceptional theater experience for our cast members!

Dress Down on February 13th
Tuesday, February 13th
$1 Dress Down Day
To benefit: Pediatric Cardiology at Oishei Children's Hospital
Students may dress out of uniform and wear pink, red and/or white
This dress down day is at the request of DeSales 1st grader and CHD warrior, Landon.
Landon's Mom was pregnant with him when he was diagnosed with a Ventricular Septal Defect (a hole in the bottom two chambers of the heart). His heart is now considered repaired as he had his surgery at about 6 months old. However surgery is not a cure and he like his fellow heart warriors will have lifelong care.
Landon told us of his experience, "My heart wasn't working good when I was a baby. We are celebrating that it is working good now and wanted people to know about this (Congenital Heart Defect) so they can have healthy hearts too. God picked me to be a heart kid and I pray for the other heart kids." We are proud of this brave Knight, his commitment to give back and recognize all of the children with CHD.

DeSales Catholic School Teacher Request Policy
Student placement is taken very seriously and is initiated according to a process involving teacher input, time and careful thought concerning the best interest of every child in each classroom.
Improving student achievement and forming well-balanced classes across the grade-level is our primary focus, as such, teacher requests will only be considered on a rare exception basis and only if accompanied by a written request letter.
These exceptions will have the following criteria:
- The student or parent has specific concerns about a particular teacher
- Parents of multiples (twins, triplets, etc.) may submit having their children in the same class
- Issues relating to medical need or physical impairment
- Issues relating to learning disabilities
- Emotional issues
- Peer relationships
Parent written student placement letter must include all of the following:
- Valid academic concerns
- Social/emotional needs of the student
- Personality/motivational concerns
- Requests must be based on specific teacher traits
- Must be submitted to the principal by June 30 of each year
Students in grade 4 and 5 will be taught by both teachers in their specific subject matter, therefore requests are not necessary.
Although parent requests will be taken into consideration for student placement it does not guarantee placement of the student into a particular class or teacher. The principal will make final class placement of a student.
