Every Day, Every Child, Whatever It Takes
Mrs. Smith’s Snapchat…
Hello Lakeside Parents and Guardians,
It has been almost 6 months since we've had our students back in the building and the Lakeside staff missed them greatly! Although this school year isn't starting out exactly as we hoped or would've ever imagined, we still had an amazing 1st two days of the 20-21!
Our students came back to us after being away for almost 150 days! So our focus for the first two days was CONNECTION! We wanted to start the year with letting our students know that we missed them and that we were happy to have them back in the building. Staff members took every opportunity to greet students and talk to them about what they experienced during their time away from school. Many classrooms focused their opening activities on building a new school community of friends.
As a school community, we worked hard to prepare the building to be safe and sanitized so our students could learn and play in a clean environment! From cleaning the playground equipment each morning to extra hand sanitizer stations around the building to scheduled hand washing breaks, we took many precautions to ensure a safe learning environment.
Virtual Families - Thank you so much for your patience as the district works out some technical glitches. Our district virtual team of teachers is working so hard to get students connected and learning. If you have questions regarding your child's placement in the virtual program please reach out and we will do all that we can to assist.
As always, I thank you for your continued support of Lakeside Elementary! Take care, be safe, and have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Smith
Virtual Instruction Option
Good Morning, Warren Township Families.
You are receiving this message because you are an officially enrolled family in your VIrtual Instructional Option for 2020-2021 school year.
The purpose of this message is to provide direction for our families who have not received information on their student's placement, device/materials pick up and breakfast and lunch distribution.
1. If you have not been contacted by your classroom teacher grades K-4 or your CORE Connect teacher in grades 6-8, there are two ways in which we can help you get that information. You can call my office directly at 317-869-4349 or 317-869-4350; you can also email me directly at pgriffin@warren.k12.in.us. Both of these methods will allow us to share information with you and ensure we have the correct email addresses on file.
2. If you need to pick up your school materials, books, workbooks and/or supplies, please contact your home school, and they will arrange a time for you to come to campus and receive those. If you are in need of a device, have a device that is not working or want to return a device, you can visit Moorhead Community Resource Center, Monday-Friday from 11 AM - 1 PM to take care of those needs.
3. Breakfast and lunch distribution for all Virtual Families will occur Tuesdays and Fridays at Moorhead Community Resource Center. Please enter door 1, and visit the cafeteria.
Starting the school year with information to ensure your students can be successful on day one is very important. I know that for many of our virtual families, not having the information you need is upsetting and it s not acceptable. Yesterday, my office was able to connect with many of our families, but not all of them. I offer to you my sincerest apologies and promise that we will work to be sure that our virtual families have information they need to get started on Monday for Kindergarten students and Monday, the Black Cohort Day, or Tuesday, the Gold Cohort Day, for students in grades 1-8.
Again, please reach out to my office directly if you have not received information on your student's placement and we will get that information for you.

CAR RIDERS/DAYCARE Student Drop-off/Pick-up Procedures
We ask that our parents follow these guidelines to ensure that every student has a safe arrival and dismissal:
All students will be required to be dropped off and picked up through the car rider line to maintain safety standards. Parking at the front and East end of the building and walking children to and from the entrances will not be allowed. We want to prevent children and adults walking through the path of cars or buses on the property at any time.
Staff members will be present outside beginning at 7:55 a.m. each morning for student drop-off. Please do not release your children until a staff member signals the beginning of our process. Students will not be counted tardy until 8:05 a.m. Our afternoon pick-up procedures will begin at 3:00 p.m. If you are in a hurry, you are encouraged to be at or near the front of the line. We will implement our dismissal procedures as quickly and safely as possible for all.
Thank you very much for your support with helping ensure Lakeside maintains safety as our priority during our student entrance and dismissal each day!
DON’T FORGET TO PICK UP YOUR CAR RIDER SIGN IN THE FRONT OFFICE!!

SCHOOL DISTRICT PUBLICATIONS/NEWS MEDIA USE
The occasion may arise when the school district wants to recognize your child or your child's school. This may include your child's photo, your child's name or your child's work in district publications, newsletters, on school district websites, and in electronic/social media or in staff training videos. We may also want to tell the media (including newspapers, television, and radio) about your child's achievements. We never knowingly release information about a student to anyone who wants to use it for commercial/political purposes. However, we will honor your request to not include your child in these types of recognitions if you notify your child's school office in writing that you do not want this type of information released.
