Dear Hyde-Addison ES Families,

It has been wonderful to offer over 100 additional in-person seats, for Term 4. There are a few seats still available in kindergarten and second grade. If your family is interested, please reach out to calvin.hooks@k12.dc.gov. As seats become available in other grades, the office team will continue to contact families, to make those offers. Additionally, in-person connection opportunities have begun for students who are in a virtual posture. Please contact your classroom teacher for information.

Staff Appreciation Week is May 3-7, 2021! Please join us in celebrating the work of the Hyde-Addison ES staff, during this challenging season. In addition, please look out for information around a parent appreciation day, within the coming weeks. Your support, collaboration, grace, understanding, flexibility, and respect has been essential to this process. The parent appreciation event information will be forthcoming.

Did you know that next week is teacher appreciation week? Join us in thanking our teachers for all of their hard work by sending them a quick email with a positive note or memory.

We also hope everyone will choose at least one non-classroom teacher to reach out to! Our specials teachers, reading interventionists, English Language Learning teachers, special education teachers, and student support team do so much to create joyful and rigorous learning experiences for our students! Please note that the Term 3 Wonderful Wednesday offerings (Dance Party and Full Steam Ahead) have ended! Thank you to all of the teachers and students who made them SO much fun! Look what is in store for Term 4 (click images to read the fine print):

3. Complete the SY21-22 electronic submission enrollment packet.

Interested in volunteering on the PTA! The Executive Board of the Hyde-Addison PTA is accepting nominations for the following positions:

· President;

· Vice President;

· Treasurer;

· Secretary;

· Vice President for Aftercare and Enrichment;

· Vice President for Communications;

· Vice President for Events;

· Vice President for Fundraising; and

· Vice President for Room Parent Engagement.

A candidate must be a parent or guardian of a student at Hyde-Addison Elementary School during the 2021-22 school year, and all terms are for 1 year.

Serving on the PTA is a wonderful way to give back to the Hyde-Addison community while reinforcing the core values of the school.

Nominations are due by, Sunday, May 16. Candidates will be announced the week beginning Monday, May 17, and the election will be held online the week beginning Monday, May 24 and close on Sunday, May 30. We look forward to hearing from you!

To prepare for Term 4, the PTA asked the Hyde-Addison community to fundraise to provide every in-person learner with their own set of school supplies. The goal was to raise $1,500 and we exceeded our goal!

Thanks to the generous support of families, friends, and community members, there was a total amount of $1,565 donated. Our students and teachers have already put their new materials to good use! We appreciate the funds, time, and energy that our community contributes to Hyde-Addison throughout the year.
