No School on Friday and Monday

School will not be in session on Friday and Monday this week in observance of Labor Day. Enjoy the long weekend!

Byam Art Teacher Amy Brown Recognized as Massachusetts Art Educator of the Year

We were very fortunate to have had Amy Brown join the Chelmsford Public School after spending most of her career as an art teacher in the Framingham Public Schools. Her love of art is contagious, and she fosters our young Byam artists to create meaningful skills, as well as pride in their accomplishments. Amy's social media presence connects her art room with a greater community who enjoys her creative content. Her contributions go beyond her excellence as an art educator. Amy plays a big role on our PBIS team to support social and emotional learning for our students. As a Byam parent, Amy serves as the Corresponding Secretary and Social Media Coordinator for our the Byam School Association (BSA) our parent organization. The Massachusetts Art Education Association couldn't have found a more deserving recipient of their Elementary Art Educator of the Year.

Thank you to everyone who has been so diligent in returning our health and emergency forms. Please return these forms as soon as possible so we can have the pertinent health information and emergency contacts. We have been off to a safe and healthy start to the school year.

Arrival/Dismissal

We know our arrival and dismissal procedure can seem daunting at first, however we've been so impressed how quickly everyone is getting into the routine. Next week, our bus pick up and drop off times should become more consistent so that you can get into a regular schedule. Below is our video if you need to check in on the procedure.

Buses

All students who will be riding the bus need to register with the transportation department even if you are beyond the two-mile free busing zone. Information for registering can be found at https://chelmsfordschools.org/departments/transportation/

CPS School Nutrition

Reminder every student should bring a simple snack and snack drink to school every day. (ie: snack examples: crackers, carrot sticks, etc.)

BSA Information!

BSA Meeting - September 7th at 7:00pm:

Please join us at our first BSA meeting for the 2022-2023 school year! Wednesday September 7th, 2022 at 7:00pm in the Byam library. The meeting will also be streamed virtually. This will offer a chance to learn what we do and to meet other parents! We will also have ways to help volunteer. There are lots of ways to get involved, like signing up to collect tickets or helping at a concession stand for a future event. Come and be a part of our great community!

Back to School Social - Friday September 9th 6:00-8:00pm

Please join us for an exciting back to school event with all your Byam friends and family! We encourage families to bring their own picnic blanket and chairs, and spread out around the grounds of the school. This is a very casual evening of dinner and mingling. You can bring your own food, or select from our vendors:

*Pizza from Zestys

*Dylan & Pete's ice cream truck

*Spirit Wear pre-order pickups AND limited Spirit Wear styles for sale (cash or paypal).

*Louie the Lion will be making an appearance, so bring your camera!

(*There will be NO PARKING at Byam. You can park across the street at the Lockheed Martin parking lot, and walk over to the school using the crosswalk.)

Attendance

Students being present to school is vital to student socialization and academic progress. Outside of illnesses and medical appointments, we at Chelmsford Public Schools discourages as little travel as possible during the school weeks.

If your family's schedule required your child to miss school days please contact our clear Stella Murphy either prior to or the day of their absence. This helps decrease the number of outgoing calls our school office needs to do to inquire about student absences.

Seeking Substitutes!

Come on Board! We are seeking additional building substitutes for both teaching and support to grow our Byam School substitute pool. Minimum of one day to maximum of four days a week, dependent on substitute preference. If interested in hearing more information about this opportunity please have interested person email Betsy Dolan at dolane@chelmsford.k12.ma.us to discuss further. Training and support with technology, sub plans, etc. is provided on site.
