This Week's Standards

Math
This week in math we will be working on standard 4.NBT.3. Students will be able to use place value understanding to round multi-digit whole numbers to any place.

ELA (English Language Arts)

This week in ELA we will be working on standards RL.4.3, which focuses on literary elements. Students will...

  1. ...describe in depth a character of a story or drama using specific details in the text.
  2. ...describe in depth the setting of a story or drama using specific details in the text.
  3. ...describe in depth an event in a story or drama using specific details in the text.

Class Connect Preparation

Monday: Watch THIS VIDEO about benchmark numbers BEFORE class. (It's only 5 minutes.)
Tuesday: Just come to class prepared with your notebook (as you should every day).
Wednesday: Print the "Setting Graphic Organizer" (see below and attached to k-mail) and glue it into your notebook. If you can't print it, copy it by hand into your notebook.
Thursday: We will be reading a reader's theater titled "Aladdin and the Magic Lamp". It was attached to your Weekly Announcements k-mail if you'd like to practice reading ahead of time. We will be completing work samples in class today. If you are unable to come to class, your work samples are due by Friday at 11 am.

Event Information

Pumpkin Science Field Trip

Items to Bring:
  1. Pumpkin - we will be doing science experiments with your pumpkins. You may carve them at the end of the field trip. If you choose to do so, you will need to bring carving tools.
  2. Lunch - you may pack a lunch to eat at the park after the field trip.

RSVP via the Community Board at nvvacommunity.org.
There is no cost for this field trip.
