McSparren's Message
At this time of year I always enjoy the excitement leading up to the Christmas break. The faculty/staff and students eagerly anticipating being off from school and the air of holiday spirit is quite evident in the classrooms, halls and walkways of Shalimar. Watching 625 children engaged in lessons and activities connecting the season with academics and character traits is very thrilling for me. Engaging instruction and the excitement for learning is a priority with our teachers. Moving into the second semester and the year 2023 will find your child taking mid year diagnostics and teachers sharing with you and your child their growth since the beginning of the school year. I appreciate your support, your communication, and your trust as we surround your child with safety for their education as well as their physical and social wellbeing. Mrs. Lewis (our amazing Assistant principal) and I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year.
Best Regards,
Mrs. McSparren

Teacher of the Year- Mrs. Liddon
Mrs. Liddon has been with Okaloosa County School District since 2016 and this year entered her 7th year of teaching in an elementary school. Prior to being hired on with the school district she worked at Northwest Florida State College as an Early Childhood Specialist. She says that working at the college sparked her passion for teaching with purpose and working hard to give it her best. This passion has continued to fuel her to this day! It is her sincere desire to be the best that she can be for her students, families, and peers.
Mrs. Liddon's motto has always been “relationship is everything,” she believe this to be true in the classroom, in her personal life, and in her day-to-day interactions with others.
We congratulate and appreciate Mrs. Liddon!

Instructional Support Person of the Year- Mrs. Bryant
We would like to congratulate Mrs. Bryant on being selevted as our Instructional Support Person of the Year. She has been with the district since 1994. At Shalimar she works with small groups in each grade level. She says her favorite part is getting to see students have those "ah ha" moments when they understand a concept they have been struggling with. She is such an asset to Shalimar Elementary and we appreciate her.
Thank you Mrs. Bryant!
