Welcome to Cedar Park Parent Teacher Club (PTC)
Welcome to our new Rachel Carson students and families! All current parents and guardians of CPMS students are automatically members of the PTC.
Our events, programs, school support, and enthusiasm make up this vibrant volunteer community and are indeed, POWERED BY YOU.
Two to Takeaway
1. Cooks and non-cooks alike are welcomed to join in providing a warm and yummy Soup, Salad, & Bread luncheon for our Cedar Park/Rachel Carson staff on February 25th. Click here to learn more about how you can pitch in.
2. Don’t miss our next PTC meeting on March 15! Beaverton High School (BHS) principal, Dr. Anne Erwin, will share information that will be helpful for families of 8th graders transitioning to BHS, and those mentally preparing themselves for the upcoming transition to high school!
James and the Giant Peach - Well done!
Kudos to our drama teacher, actors, and tech crew who pulled together to put on Cedar Park’s first in-person play, James and the Giant Peach, Jr., since the start of the pandemic. What a joy to see students on the stage singing and dancing and to see the hard work of the tech crew!
Your Money is Hard at Work!
Thanks to all of your contributions to our PTC fundraiser in the fall - and to those of you who contribute to the Beaverton Education Foundation (BEF), too.
With the help of PTC and BEF funds, we were able to purchase a pug mill for the Cedar Park art classes. This device allows for excess clay from ceramics projects to get reconstituted to be used again, which conserves clay and helps the classroom budget!
The PTC purchased new Oregon Battle of the Books (OBOB) books for this year’s reading list.
Lastly, the PTC will cover the costs of all 8th graders’ yearbooks. If you have already purchased a yearbook for your 8th grader, stay tuned for information to get reimbursed from the PTC.
Missed our recent Community PTC Meeting?
No worries! Click here to read the meeting minutes from Tuesday, February 15th.
We had an excellent talk from Dana Sexton (Social Worker) and Aubrey Ashenfelter (School Psychologist). They remind parents that suicidal ideation, self-harm, and panic attacks won’t resolve on thier own and encourage parents to reach out to them if they need support, have concerns, or could use help in accessing or navigating mental health resources.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
We have two some additional vacancies available:
- PTC Vice President: Participate in PTC board meetings and support the events and fundraisers of the PTC.
- PACK store: Work with school admins to purchase and organize this positive behavior incentive program. (Needed once volunteers are allowed back on campus)
- 8th Grade Send-Off Coordinator: Help organize the 8th grade send-off in June!
- Student Store: Manage the supplies at the student store & help train volunteers. (Needed once volunteers are allowed back on campus)
Email the Cedar Park PTC Directors of Volunteers, Holli (volunteers@cedarparkptc.org) if you are interested in keeping Cedar Park awesome.
