We Are Now Seeking Incoming 4YO & Kindergarten Students For The 2022-2023 School Year
Parents of future students are asked to call Alice in the elementary office at 319-392-4221 to get on either the 4 Year Old Preschool or Kindergarten roster lists. In addition, we will be hosting 4YO and Kindergarten Information Night on Wednesday, February 23rd at 5:30 p.m. at Danville Elementary. At the meeting, we will have staff on hand to speak to parents about our registration process, our programs, and next steps for getting ready to start school.
Please note, students that do not reside in Danville can still attend both our Preschool and Kindergarten programs. Parents that live outside of the district that are interested in open enrolling to Danville can call the elementary office for information on the open enrollment process.
Drop Off/Pick Up Reminders
During drop off: Students are allowed in the building at 7:50 a.m. for breakfast and 7:55 a.m. if they are not eating breakfast. It is no secret that the earlier you arrive in the drop off line, the smoother it flows. The congestion begins backing up the closer you get to school start time. So if possible, plan ahead to arrive slightly earlier than the 8:00 - 8:10 window.
Also, we continue to stress that cars should not park in the drop off line, students should get out on their own on the passenger side of the vehicle, so cars can continue to flow through the line. If you need to assist your child out of the car or your child is having trouble, please park in the parking lot and assist the child, as to not hold up the drop off line. Anyone is welcome to drive around the drop off line and park in the lot to also help speed up the process. However, we stress that the parking lot should be a reduced speed area, as there are students and parents trying to cross to the doors.
During pick up: If you arrive early, we will place your name on the list to get your child out of class as quickly as possible. However, please understand that for many reasons, that doesn't always mean your child will be there right away. There could be a sub in the classroom, your child could be finishing up work in the classroom, or he/she could be taking some time to get items packed up. All of these things impact how quickly your child can get out of the classroom. In addition, we ask that all siblings are present at the dismissal doors, before we send the students out to meet their parents.
Also, we continue to ask cars not to wait on Main Street. We encourage parents to wait on East Gerdes Drive and then cross Main Street into the parking lot in order to not block household driveways or emergency traffic that may need to get down Main Street. As with drop off, all cars are welcome to pull into the lot and park to wait for their child in a parking spot. Once again, please remember to proceed with reduced speed to assure the safety of our students.

K-12 Iowa Public Schools - 2022-2023 Open Enrollment Information
The deadline for filing an open enrollment application for your student to attend a non-resident school district (which is a district other than the district the student lives in) for the 2022-2023 school year is March 1, 2022. If your student will be entering school for the first time as a kindergarten student or as a preschool special education student, the deadline is September 1, 2022. Danville CSD Current Covid Guidelines
The district is following the current IDPH Covid guidelines. You might hear it referred to as "the 5 and 5 rule." To summarize, if your child tests positive, he/she will be absent 5 days from the date of the first symptoms or date of the test. That day is "day 0." If you choose to mask your child, he/she may return to school on day 6 and mask days 6-10. Day 11 is a return to normal activities.
If your child is a household contact of someone that tested positive and is unvaccinated, the above rules apply. If your child is fully vaccinated with a booster and is symptom free, he/she may return to school and wear a mask for 10 days. However, if you choose for your child to not wear a mask at all, your child will be required to isolate at home for the full 10 days.
Finally, as always, if you have questions about your child's situation, please feel free to phone the elementary office at 319-392-4221.
